I guess watching reruns of SVU and 2 and a half men 12 hours a day is a better way to waste your time like old people do. Don’t see anybody complain about that and that’s objectively a much worse use of time.

I've only realized rather recently that in the context of being a worldwide empire bombing the poo poo out of people for being or suspected of being communist (or "communist") and saying poo poo like "in order to save the village we had to destroy it" with a straight face that "Better dead than red" isn't so much a defiant slogan as a call for genocide.

Individual channels and stations would assign them randomly, by the alternating like you describe, or one color being the incumbents etc., but there was so much scrutiny and reporting for 2000 that they all started coalescing around a common color scheme and it just so happened to be Republican = red Democratic = blue

On the other hand, it is ridiculous to think that anything should have a monopoly on the political symbolism of anything as basic as a color.

Lots of schools (especially in the 90's/early 2000's) banned using "too much" of the colors Red and Blue because they were associated with the Bloods and Crips. Suspiciously no white kid ever had to worry if he was wearing "too much" of a color, but I saw black kids get called to the office and made to change shirts.

Sparta wasn't at all tyrannical and oppressive with its' government. Also, it's a manly white dude standing up to a flamboyant black guy.

He meant it's going to be a problem because he's wearing a diaper, it's full, and kneeling will cause it to burst open. Checks out.

Public group, not hiding the namequote:I'm back from my 24-hour ban. This is why I was banned. I'm probably going to get banned again for posting this, but I really want to make sure people understand that Facebook is now banning people for criticizing the actual literal Nazi SS. I reviewed the community standards and this image does not violate them, but there is no appeals process. I can only assume I offended a Nazi. Real cool that FB tacitly supports nazis if true.

TheDeadlyShoe posted:I'm guessing it was purely the swastika and that's what the...robot? that reviewed the report saw.... No, some of the people who do the job have given interviews about it; it's basically a call center, except instead of telemarketing, it's a bunch of people looking at thousands of reports a day for ~5 seconds each, then making a decision whether or not it was flagged appropriately. Robots would be consistent, and would probably cost more.

AnoHito posted:I figure they probably thought it was a meme siding with Nazis. I mean, I could see poo poo like that being posted unironically on Twitter. My money's on this. It's a parody of the same meme the right uses against the gently caress the police crowd. So you get used to seeing 'in stead of saying gently caress the police stop breaking the law' == police good, then suddenly seeing that argument with nazis == nazis good. And let's be honest, in 2018 it's not obvious what's satire or not. Someone probably just didn't get it after seeing a bunch of others and hosed up. OwlFancier posted:If their incompetence makes them support lovely right wingers that's not really saying much. Although this reminds me of an argument I came across, about the difference between the atheism of marginalized people and white men. White men reject religion out of a rationality superiority complex; "I reject any superstition that I, a white man, might ever suffer one (1) consequence for my actions." Nah, they don't announce their pro-Christian stance but if you look at their TPUSA News page you can see their Christian slant (such as writing stories about micro-aggressions against Atheists/Muslims in such a way as to heavily imply it's bullshit). e: hell they have a pdf about 10 reasons the US is the best country in the world, and number 4 is that it's the most "religious", and 2 sentences into that point it specifies Christianity. It's very frustrating having lovely-but-cowardly conservative relatives. I've got one that will post a video showing cops beating up student protesters in Italy, and the comments will be full of "gently caress yeah!", but if I call 'em on it, they'll claim they're just posting the video and not taking a side, that I'm the horrible one for assuming they've picked a side.
