What the gently caress thread. Ok lets try this hot take. The Fable games were fun. I enjoyed the unique humor and feeling of the world immensely. Their only crime was short length.

The Risen games are more entertaining than the Elder Scroll games. Or in other words, Piranha Bytes games are more interesting than Bethesda games, by a huge margin.

First Person Shooters peaked at Wolf ET, a truly free game. Baldur's Gate 1 is an honest-to-god bad game, and 2 is middling in quality with a mix of both solid and terrible writing. Basically any games that saddle you with a bastardized pen-and-paper system like D&D are awful. The Witcher 3 has a lot of great stuff going for it but the combat isn't one of those things. It's complete dogshit. The Batman Arkham <Insert Noun Here> games are rhythm games for people that like cape poo poo. Very little depth despite a great presentation. The Game of Thrones PC game is actually really good and way better than that misery porn deserves. Gaming as a whole probably peaked at Hammerfight. No, there was one produced by Focus Interactive. I guess the full name is technically "Game of Thrones: The Role Playing Game." My opinion is that Enderal is the best Skyrim by miles. I'm like 50 hours in and it nails the difficulty curve, makes money meaningful, and has a really solid well-presented plot with largely excellent voice acting.

There hasn't been a single good arena shooter since Unreal Tournament 2004. There have been decent games since then which happen to be arena shooters, but they all have severe flaws and completely inadequate degrees of customization and modding potential. If Overwatch's class system wasn't so tight, its garbage map design (seriously, fire every single map designer at Blizzard who's worked on OW) and terrible game modes would be more obvious flaws. Example: what was the last game with a decent CTF mode? How about a good CTF mode?

The best thing about how Doom Eternal looks so far is all the new movement options, which will push it a little closer to Titanfall 2 Though it probably won't have levels as cool as Titanfall 2 does.
