A one year old is a great age for a dog - you miss the puppy extra work years, and you get a young dog who'll be with you for at least 10+ years - and that looks like a good mix; a good boy.

Errybody thinks they want a puppy but nobody really wants a puppy. 10 MO saves you the worst of it and you still get a good rear end dog.

Pups are A LOT of loving work. People always underestimate this. Like if you don’t have someone around 24/7 until they’re like 9 months at the minimum...gently caress. Chewing every drat thing and going potty everywhere. And you absolutely need to wake up every two hours minimum at night to let them out

Lando came to us first with a shelter name of Boston, but apparently his name before that was “Shadow” misspelled as “Shawdow.” Every time he’s mischievous, we call him that. Here is a picture of Shawdow being Shawdowy.

Before Apollo came to the shelter he was apparently named "Tank", which doesn't fit him in the slightest - he's smaller than you'd think, lithe and fast. The shelter renamed him to Hank...but naw. He's Apollo, bright and sunny.  Here he is guarding me from the terrors of the front door:

I thought about the characters for a moment before I remembered the helper fly, Zipper. So I asked my wife, and she thought it was perfect because of the way she would zip around to chase Timothy. Over the past year, Katie and I decided that if Zipper had a human name (like Timothy), it would probably be Heidi. But yeah, we could not begin to give a poo poo about gender with regards to her name. Edit: one last thing that folks in this thread might remember: when Zips was younger, she had a “stripe” or “Zipper” on her back.
