One of the primary issues which I had with the Far Cry/Crysis series in terms of graphical fidelity was how the jungle foliage and other environmental elements just clip out and disappear in front of your face. It’s like your character is navigating through these exceptionally detailed landscapes, but once you get up close to a tree it’s really no more interactive than a last-generation VR game. Not even a token swiping away of the leaves with your hand animation. I was also a little disappointed with The Witcher III and Monster Hunter World in that respect. We’ve gotten to the point where texture detail and resolution are huge, but then you hit enemies and receive little to no dynamic or visible feedback. I remember decapitating the Griffin in Witcher III, and his head which I was carrying as a trophy promptly clipped through my horse. Rather than ultra-high textures good for still pictures, I’d like to see actual in-motion graphics that stop cutting such conspicuous corners. But maybe that’s because I’m the guy who is still overly gratified by the fact that your character’s feet actually step on each rung of the ladders in Dark Souls...

I was blown away when I saw Nathan Drake, Lara Croft, and Aloy put their hands on a wall as they walked passed. Or the way Aloy runs her hand across the top of some bushes.

I've been taking archery lessons and the shake effect when you keep your arm tense full draw for too long is very real. I also learned that Aloy squinting one eye is bad technique and you should always keep both eyes open to aim. Bow discipline!

The one thing that felt very videogamey with animation/movement in HZD is if you dodge roll off a ledge or cliff. There's a clear point where the maximum distance of the dodge is reached and your forward momentum abruptly disappears as if you hit an invisible barrier.
