It's about finding that next group of core players we can win with in the next 6, 8, 10 years. Let's face it, it's hard for 20-, 21-, 22-year-olds to lead an NHL team. Look at the playoffs.

Way too good to be true. And if it is both true and against THE RULES, he'll skate off with zero issues anyway

"A change in the law, for which Dutton voted as required by his position in Cabinet, means these two childcare centres, along with most others in the country, now receive direct subsidies from the Commonwealth.

The effective start date was July 2, 2018"

Held onto it for a whole month, although maybe they saw it coming for a while.

Trying to figure out who in the federal liberal party isn't embattled right now.

(I maintain that Abbott, having never resigned from Parliament, just stayed there and any attempts to bring him back will just default back to where he was, 30 newspolls deep).

So the betting community seem to feel that Dutton will challenge, fail, and Porter will still be an irrelevant douche once he loses his seat in 2019.

Porter is part of the furniture to be saved. Anyone with political nous does not want to contest the next election as PM, and Porter knows that. Whoever wants the real job just has to keep their nose clean, say the things the right faction wants, and they'll protect them until they can be put up as a post-election replacement. By comparison Dutton has nothing to lose (except perhaps his investment properties) by being interim PM to the election and is egotistic enough to believe he can win it.

Edit: porter was projected to lose the northern suburban seat of Pearce, last time I checked.

Of course he could always come back, and take the leadership in Labor's second term, if we haven't all boiled by then.
