Not really. I dont know if the stuff to upgrade to the next tier even drops that early.

What Id recommend is getting a guide open though because the xp requirements and items needed to upgrade are hidden from you and wasting any ingredient in that game is very detrimental

Actually, most of the upgrading stones should be unlocked right in that chapter he's in, with couple of other ones opening around the start of chapter 11. He won't have nearly enough for any Tier 3 weapons but there's Tier 2 stuff available.

I don't think you need a guide either for a casual playthrough if you aren't working through multiple weapons and don't care about plat stuff. Just have a bunch of money for your sturdy bones/superconductors/ultracompact reactors and you'll be fine, though holding it off till later helps since you can get much easier and faster money than what you grind for in Chapter 9.

Money is tight enough in the game that there really isn't a good reason to not just figure out what the correct numbers of each to buy are so you don't spend the whole time upgrading items just saving and reloading. Its one of the few things they should fix in a re-release.

I think you can go back on the lete river and get back to the veldt that way.

Yeah, eventually I was able to find the correct words to punch into Google to find the answer. Apparently that question was a "troll" question on GameFAQs circa 2008 (probably 1998 too) because I guess it's asked a lot.

Yeah I'm pretty sure my original run back in the 90s involved me finding out you could go down that waterfall but not figuring out I could get back and just resetting the game.

the dumbest part about getting water rondo is that the "correct" starting point is nikeah, but the last time you were there, you couldn't leave because of an invisible wall on the world map. it's no longer there after you get the airship because it was a "rockslide"

Don't tease the Octopus, kids!
I think there was a shorter route. If you take the Serpent Trench from the Veldt, you wash up in a town whose name i can't remember. Rather than taking the ship to South Figaro, go rent a chocobo, which you can ride around some mountains and down to the waterfall you can take to get back to the Veldt. Lets you skip going through Mt. Kolts and the Lete River all over again.

e: f;b. I was talking about Nikeah.

I never really had any problems with money when it came to normal upgrading in any of my normal playthroughs so I don't really agree with the premise. But I do think changes to upgrading in general would be needed to let you see how much exp you need for the different levels/stats of the weapon you're working on, which would hopefully fix it and address the money issue you had as well

KNEEL BEFORE THE WICKED KING!
Yeah like during the main game you get enough money for supplies as needed and there's no real need to go out of your way to min-max upgrade stuff. Even in the post-game you don't need it, and cashflow issues only really arise at that point from trying to get Literally Everything anyway.

You have enough money to make some mistakes, but not enough you can afford to dick around with the system several times/upgrade all the starter weapons etc. The only real change that needs to happen is just note how much xp is remaining to level up.

And if they wanted to fix the post game just make platinum ingots a 100% drop.

Doing a re-run of FF6, decided to let Cid die for the first time since I first played the game as a kid (and hosed up not knowing that slow fish would literally kill him). Jesus that's literally the most depressing scene in a Final Fantasy game. Cid's "People jumped off the ledge, perked em right up!" Quote is morbid. My personal theory is Banon made it to the island and died in the group Cid mentioned.

In TZA, anyone know if LP converted to gil via cat ear hood count towards the conqueror achievement, or am I going to have to choose between earning loads of money or being an achievement whore?

I have no idea, but it doesn't take long to earn a crap ton of gil, especially in trial mode above level fifty, and especially if you have more than one, so you wouldn't have to choose for long

You’ve got a long way to go before Oerba. You can go straight there with just plot stuff but I strongly advise doing the Cie’th stone missions that act as teleporters along the way. I think they’re gold or yellow? It’s been a while.

Teleport stones are black. And seconding you do some missions, if only because you're at the part you can finally stretch your legs.

My semi-controversial FF15 opinion is that (at least with all the changes of the Royal Edition, which is what I played) it is an unqualified Really Good. I had no problem with the shift in the latter part of the game (which I know a lot of people complained about) and thought it did a good job of creating the necessary tone.

The core plot/characters/setting were all great, and those are the most important things in a JRPG like that.

FFXV feels stripped back in an almost accidentally good way, honestly. It’s like they took the garbled Nomura Versus XIII project, and stripped it back to the very basics. Four dudes roaming around collecting crystals Espers in order to defeat the evil knight introduced at the beginning of the game, who’s also actually a demon.

If XIII was one of those Chinese buffets that also served weird left-field stuff like fries and jello, then XV is a very comfy ham sandwich. Sometimes that’s preferred.

What’s the differences between FF15 and the Royal Edition are (no spoilers please)

Are there side missions or balance things added? Additional story lines? I’ve got the RE, just curious how it differs from the original.

My problem with the tonal shift wasn’t the tone, it was that I didn’t get to explore after the shift and I really wanted to

Back around launch, someone managed to clip themselves out of the intended play area during the train journey, and discovered that there's an entire fully modeled continent out there, with villages and caves and poo poo. They clearly were planning to have similar free-roaming gameplay there as in the starting continent, they just ran out of time/money/something else.

I mean, someday they actually needed to release the game.

FFXV had a very troubled development, including getting entirely scrapped and restarted sometime this side of the half-way point time wise. They probably got told they needed to ship a product holiday 2016 OR ELSE and were forced to finish up what they had and put it out the door because if allowed to work on it forever, they'd be working on it forever.

They still are, I know, but at least they shoved a $60 game out of it and now any more work they do on it is bonus cash.
