Because just walking around isn't going to shift things around that much. To me, it looks like it was designed with sales to the military in mind. Ruining backs and knees with heavy packs is common.

I think the scariest thing about that backpack is that after a number of strides it'd probably start resonating and loving amplify until that bad boy just straight lifted you of your feet and you landed face down in the dirt. Like an idiot. Like the kind of idiot that thinks a floating backpack is a good idea.

To be fair they thought he was going to be Captain in S4 because by all accounts P Stew was very much ready to quit. EDIT: Also why will no one make a Star Trek anthology series hosted by Q? It's like the loving perfect setup, you could tell stories from any time in any place without having to have series regulars. Hell you could even have stories from different universes and timelines.
