As a teenager I had this job in a greenhouse. Between each row of cucumber plants there was a space, with on the ground a 'pair' of fist-sized metal pipes. At one end the pair formed a U-bend connecting each other, at the other, hot water would flow in/out as an additional heating system. The pipes were held a couple inches off the ground with a metal stand every so often. We also used the pipes as rails for the harvesting carts to ride on. Once a year, there would be a big clean-up. After removing all the plants we finished harvesting, the anti-weed plastic on the ground needed to be replaced or cleaned-up or whatever. I don't know, that part wasn't done by us. What was done by us, though, was getting those metal tubes/rails out of the way. What we did was hang these hooks from the ceiling frame, then all stand in a row along a 50 meter long pair of pipes, and on a countdown from the boss, all pick them up at the same time and put them in the hooks. We had to pick up both pipes at once because the u-bend at the end. Even for a short stretch of pipe, they were heavy as hell. The hooks were just a little too high up and it was very easy to get your finger caught between the metal pipe and the sharp metal hook, when everyone let go at once. And then it was onwards to the next row...

I mean that would explain why he crashed, but surely he can afford to pull over long enough to apply the bandages etc.

Going back a page or two but I thought that nuclear reactor plants are some of the most osha safe places. Compared to literally any other energy source. The "three"? Major nuclear disasters were bad but compared to the amount of workers killed in other fields. From what I understand you're way less likely to die at a reactor than a coal plant.

I had a really lovely generator I had to start like that after I kept breaking the recoil starter over and over. Well, "had to." The biggest danger is that if you don't pull the drill off the nut fast enough the engine speed suddenly rises as it catches and it will try to torque the tool out of your hand and fling it away wildly. Extra fun with my generator where I had to kneel down by it and feather the throttle to get it to run.

I've done that with a stihl back pack blower that I couldn't get to run otherwise. It's so much easier than trying to pull the cord 1 million times.

I want to try this. I have a pressure cooker like that one, with the steam vent in the middle of the lid. I once absent-mindedly pulled off the wobbly weight before cooling the cooker down, and it was noisy and exciting. I didn't think to put an egg in there. I mean, this is an actual product for string trimmers and other small gas engines. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Troy-Bilt-JumpStart-Electric-Engine-Starter/3415794 However, those tend to have a one-way clutch that disengages when the engine starts so it doesn't torque out of your hand.

Blendo, Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman's bot in the early robot fighting tournament days, used one as well. It was actually one of the greatest disadvantages of the bot as it simply had no way to turn off except running out of fuel or being destroyed, which made it uncontrollable and tend to destroy itself when bots started getting more armor and better anti-spinner weapons.
