True Blood's intro got really loving stale after like 7 years. Which is a shame, because it was pretty drat great the first few seasons. Daredevil has my favourite of the Netflix Marvel intros: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFYFh8w4758 It's massively heavy handed with all the imagery, but the dribbling wax effect is fantastic. And I find it funny how the producers complained about how nearly every submit concept had some lame-rear end bat/sonar effect going on. The Farscape intro is another I watch every time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CtM6Mhkb08 Just for the sheer weirdness of the music, Crichton's erratic mental health, and the gradually shifting tone as the show goes on.

Although it DOES call attention to the fact that there’s never not an insane military commander after them. CRACKERS DON’T MATTER.

If there's somewhere to stream it online, please point me to it so I can see whether my memory of it being good is valid. One episode that actually sticks out in my memory as liking a whole bunch was one where the organization itself started fading back into some paper file small office operation full of basically conspiracy theorists because someone had gone back in time and changed how First Contact had happened, and I think maybe killed K in the process. I remember that one being really good.

My personal favourite is the one with the Arquillian's and the species from the rival planet who dislike the Arquillians because Arquilla is a few feet bigger than their own planet. It's a really neat episode showcasing just why the MIB learning to bury their feelings is actually harmful in some contexts - the episode follows the main Arquillian who goes to MIB headquarters for help because his people are disappearing from the streets of New York, with their suits being hijacked as well, and he has no idea why and he is scared as hell, but of course the MiB are all business, focusing on solving the crime and doing their best to thwart the other species attempts to use a satellite weapon to blow Arquillia up completely, and we understand why they are like that - but it's not from their point of view a lot of the time. The main Arquillian is alone in a room full of seemingly indifferent giants, trapped on the twin's desk all alone with no one to talk to or comfort him, so all he can do is freak out and watch his home on the monitor, hoping to hell that the MiB succeed and save it. He is totally helpless and the way his scenes are put together really help get across how small he feels, both literally and metaphorically. The only real comfort he gets is from one of the worms, who after initially making fun of his request for decaf, notice how freaked out he is and go over to him, giving him a small cup of decaf, and just... being there for him in a way that the agents are totally failing to. The MiB are fine because they are desensitised to the Earth being threatened. This little guy is not.

MiB was a good cartoon Like one episode early on had K getting neuralized decades back into being a teenager and J has to both calm him down because obviously he’s freaking out and then find him after he runs off to find his home, running into K's dad who is heartbroken that they’re taking his kid away again There was also this recurring bounty hunter villain who was both K's mentor and also able to reform himself like Monk's character if there was oxygen around and they finally get him by blowing him up and blasting him out of an airlock and it looked really graphic

The MIB cartoon was dope. Probably one of the better cartoons based on a movie. The reason why is I think it's very concept gives the writers and animators the ability to just make whatever weird creature and plot they want and the only justification they need is "aliens". It's the same for the Ghostbuster's cartoon. They just need to say "it's a ghost" and they've justified whatever monster they've made.

There was one exception - Santa isn't an alien. He is someone so ancient and anomalous that not even Zed knows what the hell is going on there, but they also don't care. All they care about regarding him is that they back him up when he does his rounds each year because he's cool and sometimes aliens try to mess with him.

I liked the MIB episode where they actively made fun of the movie (iirc the meta was that the worms had actually written it or something) and they had the movie actors playing J and K in the in-cartoon movie looking far more like Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones than the regular J and K did, so that was fun.

Man I really liked that cartoon as a kid and I'm bummed I missed this episode. I always wondered what the in-universe explanation is for both K and L being in the organization at the same time. Now I know!

I liked that the cartoon remembered that L killed Edgar. Whenever the Bugs come back, it's because they are after L because their queen put a hit out on her. J and K are just in the way.

I also still remember a conversation on MIB to this day. I might be misremembering a line or two but it was like this. K: "Elvis isn't dead. He was a <alien race> who eventually went home. Same with Lennon." J: "Oh sure. What was Ringo then?" K: "The drummer."

The studio behind the Men in Black cartoon made a lot of shows that were way better than they'd have any right to be, including Godzilla: The Series, picking up after the '98 movie. They were pretty much in the vein of The Real Ghostbusters, building on the movie premise to do some really cool poo poo.

I noticed Monsters is on Amazon Prime and it's been years since I've seen any of those and Tales from the Darkside. I'd forgotten most of the episodes outside of a few, so I curled up, started watching a random episode I didn't remember to catch up on and... Well, that one episode I tried to start with didn't age well. (The intro was GREAT though. The full make-up horror family getting ready to watch TV, a creepy melody playing, it's sort of telling you right from the start that these are going to be a bit light-hearted fun) But the episode was (I think) "Portrait of the Artist". Maybe I'm getting hard of hearing, but it was nearly impossible to follow the dialog and the entire thing acts like there's a 'gotcha', but it doesn't have a payoff. The plot is probably based off of some old pulp magazine sci-fi story, which might tell the story better if it actually is the origin of the episode. I don't even know how to describe the story without spoilering it too much because... There's a point very early on I was interested in the payoff because I don't know where this is all going. There is a better episode here, but God help me when I say this: I think the New Outer Limits could have MAYBE made this work with an extra 30 minute and prime rural Canadian woodlands and backroads to establish the setting. Now there's this concern that a great deal of these episodes are going to be bad due to the fact they had to restrict themselves due to budget or content for the SF, horror, etc. genres being from that era of the 80s/early 90s where there were a lot of horror-themed syndiated shows, they were also going on during the whole 'satanic panic' and 'horror movie are corrupting our kids' movements were going on.
