He won a lot of them against Abbott after the 2014 Budget (and was closing on him even before that).

What about Dutton getting kicked on s44? Would that trigger an election?

Crossbenchers could guarantee confidence and supply. That's what happened with the previous Coalition S44 cases in the reps.

Morrison having a shorter term than Abbott did would be the only silver lining to all this.

Former Nationals leader and deputy PM Barnaby Joyce has been given a high-profile job but it is not in the Ministry.
In a bid to bring Mr Joyce back into the fold, Mr Morrison has made him an envoy for drought recovery and assistance.
It gives Mr Joyce a chance to travel and use his communication skills to connect with regional Australians.
Former prime minister Tony Abbott has been given a similar offer — to be a special envoy — but so far has not accepted.

I expect after that poll we'll be hearing from Abbott about how they should have picked DUTTON and that the only thing holding the 2PP down is that Scott is far too left for the liberal base,

I'm from Queensland and I agree. I actually live on the Sunshine Coast, and everyone here loves Dutton and can't wait to see him placed in his rightful position. He has done so much for our community, we couldn't possibly have him back. It would be a huge detriment to Australians everywhere. Dutton was born and raised to tell people what to do with little to no claim as to why he should be able to.

Please let him stay in parliament

It's about finding that next group of core players we can win with in the next 6, 8, 10 years. Let's face it, it's hard for 20-, 21-, 22-year-olds to lead an NHL team. Look at the playoffs.

Senate results depend a lot more on first preferences.

I can see (based on this) Labor picking up a seat in NSW and Victoria, and South Australia is impossible to predict. Not sure about getting any others.
