Unrelated to comic book movies, I am annoyed by Cernovitch’s continued relevance (and existence)

I've heard that Feige was opposed to firing Gunn and the decision was entirely on the studio head, Alan Horn. Story is that Horn's contract is apparently up when he turns 75 (he turned 75 earlier this year - I don't know if it was renewed) and there's a small possibility they could wait until he's gone and his successor (and there are some rumours that it could be Feige) could hire Gunn back on.

It might be nice if there was a new character is GotG 3 name named weird Mike who Drax gets to beat the poo poo out of for about 20 mins.

Cavil has supposedly been cast as Geralt for the Netflix Witcher series, the announcement will be made soon. Edit: Oops. I forgot the Witcher is a regular book and not a comic.

cavill did an interview with ign where he excitedly told the interviewer he'd just finished replaying witcher 3 (a long-rear end game that's excellent), and that the interviewer should read the books because they're also excellent. maybe it'll be a deadpool situation where it works because the actor playing the character is really passionate about it? hopefully he looks decent with longish hair. i just finished witcher 3 myself last month, i'm excited to see what they do with it. i think it's supposed to be more of an adaptation of the books, rather than the games, though?
|
# ? Aug 27, 2018 05:11 |
The writer won't come out and say it but he hates the games for being more popular than his books (and he's mad he asked for an up front fee for the license instead of a cut of the profits). I doubt anything that's game-only will show up, though it probably won't be a direct adaptation of the books either.

Didn't the writer get kinda ripped off on that licensing deal too? edit: before your edit

mycot posted:Didn't the writer get kinda ripped off on that licensing deal too? edit: before your edit Sort of, but he apparently did it to himself. The way the devs tell it, they tried to sell him on taking a cut, but he was like "Yeah right video games are dumb poo poo just give me x amount". I mean they could be lying, but he's never refuted it. If it was a publisher talking, I'd assume it's a lie, but the devs seem to be on the level.

The games aren’t adaptations of the books, they’re sequels. 3 is much more connected than the first two though, like Yennefer and Ciri are significant characters in the books but don’t show up until Witcher 3. Plus since they don’t expect everyone to have read a few sort of obscure cult Polish novels, they apparently do borrow some events and stuff directly from the books on occasion. I think they also give Geralt amnesia or something to cover for being able to reintroduce all this stuff he should have already known? The Netflix deal is for the book rights, so since CDPR doesn’t seem to be involved anything they created can’t be used most likely.

I follow Cavill on his social media and he has talked about the Witcher for a long time so he is clearly passionate about it. I like the dude and hopefully he can keep from putting his foot in his mouth in the future and just keep being a cool action star.

I just heard a rumor (maybe more than a rumor?) that HBO is working on a Watchmen series. You think it'll be a version of the original comic, or a version of the newer comics?

It's not a rumour, they've started shooting the pilot and it's got a full season order. Based on a few things we've seen like Veidt supposedly? being dead and on what they've said it's not a remake or adaption.
