Absurd Alhazred posted:The Devil just has really bad publicity. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Diablo#Attempts_to_rename Wikipedia posted:In 2005 Arthur Mijares from the neighboring town of Oakley, petitioned the federal government to change the name of the mountain, claiming it offended his Christian beliefs. Additionally, he claimed that Diablo is a living person, and so is banned under federal law. He initially suggested renaming the mountain Mount Kawukum, and later, Mount Yahweh. Other renaming suggestions by other individuals included Mount Miwok and Mount Ohlone, after local Indian tribal names. Finally he proposed Mount Reagan, but the board rejected it on the grounds that a person must be deceased for five years to have a geographic landmark named after them. Eventually, the U.S. Board on Geographic Names rejected the petitions, saying there was no compelling reason to change the name.

While the name had nothing to do with death or jews originally, "mort aux juifs" 100% translates to death to jews.

I think it's one of my favorite city names along with Heroica Matamoros in Mexico (Heroic Moor Slayer). Named after the patron saint of Spain, Santiago Matamoros. There's actually a bunch of towns named after him

Most of the Mexican “Matamoros“ are named after this guy, hero of Mexican independence, and not directly for the saint.

Another option would be to stall the dude until the police got there, which is slightly different from taking the deal. A third option would be to tell the dude no, but get his car description and license plate number. I doubt whoever you are piling on was equally "tempted" to do nothing at all.
