I don't understand - it's really not that hard to find a board with wifi. I use one and it has two little cute antennae that screw in.

Sometimes I strech a cable across the house like I used to 15 years ago but wifi lets me browse the web so..

you can do 8k60 over a single cable if you are cool with compressed video but theres no screens on the market that will even do that, so nvidias claims are hypothetical at this point since theres not enough ports

obviously nVidia is just going wild creating price tiers to motivate buying pricier cards. *80 series cards are not the top tier card anymore, Ti cards are. not new, but TI's are treated like *90's and *80's are mid-range from the start.

now *80's and *70's are "RTX". it's brilliant manipulation of consumers, but by the time (if ever) it becomes a much-used feature in games, AMD will have ray-tracing acceleration better and cheaper.

my least favourite part though is you have folks like AdoredTV who understand nVidias' deliberately sinister ways, but blame the average joe for not voting correctly with their dollar.

AdoredTV literally says "ok drat you're all too dumb, you get what you deserve." but they can't explore the underlying system of capitalism. why don't they consider for a moment that this system is bad for technology? they have at least two videos saying Intel and nVidia are "bad for technology", but they literally just accept it and move on. they even call it "good marketing" and chastise AMD for not playing ball.

wifi is my favorite subject on the networking subreddit because whenever someone asks a question like "can my office of 100 art majors be run off enterprise wireless" a bunch of Senior Train Drivers come in with the spicy "never run enterprise wireless it's not reliable enough to service an entire office no matter how well it's installed and you BETTER install it well" takes

I’ve never worked anywhere that didn’t have weird wireless issues in certain parts of the building or meeting rooms where the wireless “just didn’t work.”

guess using a spectrum analyzer as part of a post install walkthrough just isn’t a thing anymore? dunno.

presumably you are not using a macbook then

macbooks come with the worst wireless chip known to man, which barely work under ideal conditions. apple loves the broadcom chips because they combine bluetooth and wireless in a single-chip solution

(here's hoping that apple doing more and more of their own chip work means bluetooth integrated to a w1 core, and no more loving broadcom)

mostly capitalism

i like to tell myself that the RTX cards are the high end update to the 10xx series and can exist simultaneously but somewhere deep down i fully understand nvidia could (and already did) price a consumer card series to start at $500 and nerds will absolutely eat it up under the idea that "well Nvidia CAN so its whatever!"

you can get the NUC with the radeon for like 1300 all in and it will play almost every video shame out there today at 1080p 60fps. but yeah i remember when "the most expensive" gaming card was 3-400 bucks and now somehow they cost 1000.

i don't know if mom and dad letting you put a router upstairs and one in your bedroom down in the basement is necessarily analogous to a proper enterprise scale solution

also, i think it's a little bit of a stretch to call creating and uploading disturbing skyrim erotic machinima to pornhub work
