Uh.. I don't really see why my point of view deserves ridicule. I'm not dismissing the idea that they were girlfriends, it's just not how I interpreted it in this spesific case, while watching this spesific show.

From my point of view either was equally plausible as presented in the show, but personally I didn't interpret it as a romantic thing while watching. I do get that most of you did. And that's fine. I just wanted to express my point of view, as someone who had a different interpretation. Please don't call me a homophobe just because I didn't interpret it the same way. That's extremely hostile, and unwarranted.

As an unfrequent poster and reader of the forums I'm seemingly not really up to speed on all of the social rules of the people of the forums. I'm sorry if my seemingly awful interpretation offended anyone. Anyway the kind of responses so far doesn't really encourage me to take active part of the discussions going forward. It caught me by surprise and I'll just stay away and avoid offending the regular users of the forums.

Sorry for starting all this.

i called you a homophobe not because you didnt interpret it that way, but because your response to people interpreting it that way was to act like they were wrong for interpreting it that way, instead of just going 'huh i didnt see it that way.' this is shown by

Not everything needs to be taken at face value.

which is an utterly moronic, condescending statement, as if we all need to bend over backwards to interpret things in the least homosexual manner possible, and to do otherwise is confusing and wrongheaded. i do not have any patience for this kind of behavior. If that drives you away, then, well, good.

Now I'm getting flashbacks to when somebody (was it ViggyNash or Raenir Salazar?) argued that Homura's feelings toward Madoka were religious discipleship rather than anything romantic.

Endorph called me out when I made a dumb question about Symphogear and I'm incredibly thankful because I hadn't even noticed how prejudiced I was being by allowing straight relationships so much leeway in how they were presented in screen versus always wanting more justification from the gay ones. Internalized homophobia is a hell of a thing.

Personally as a clueless straight dude, it has only been through reading a lot of Romantic Friendship/Class-S stuff and learning the visual/subtextual metaphors that I was able to see these things, I can now even comprehend Queer reading of mainstream literature that 10 years ago I'd have been like "Yeah, no Victorians hated gay people".

Thanks, manga

Not sure about sneaker bunko specifically but usually these things aren't recorded and audience recording isn't allowed. You'll probably have to settle for some random fan's second-hand account, or third-hand if no English speakers were in the audience.

Haruhi's 15th anniversary is soon. Niconico is streaming Endless Eight, and there will be a stage event with Haruhi as the focus, with the main cast's VAs. As such, people are expecting some kind of announcement. Could be a new anime (season or film), could be a new novel, could be a new video game, could be some kind of reboot. Anything, really.

The dramatic airport scene was a bit weird to me because weren't they only in the area briefly anyway and are flying at most like two hours away?

They're flying from one of the islands to the mainland of Japan, you'd need to catch a plane to go visit them yourself, so it's cumbersome and expensive enough that realistically they probably won't be seeing eachother until the next tournament. Imagine if the series was set in Hawaii and they were flying back to California, basically.

Weren't the novels pretty much done in 2011? (spoiler for the novels, absolutely do not read if you intend to read 'em/if we get more anime) Y'know, what with Kyon and Haruhi ending up in college together.

Is Hirano going to be there? It'd be kind of neat if she's feeling up to getting back into the business.

She is, but it's not like she's been completely out of the business. She's been playing all her legacy roles, like Dende in Dragon Ball, Lucy in Fairy Tail, and Alisa in Girls und Panzer. She was also one of the blades in Xenoblade 2.

There are 11 volumes. Two seasons covered 3 and a half of them (mind you, endless eight was a thing). A movie covered a whole book.

There is a lot on the shelf.

Oh.

Well then please bring on seasons 3 and 4 with an anime original ending, all done by KyoAni, and with Hirano reprising her role.

That’s not too much to ask is it?

She mostly hasn't been taking on new roles for the past few years, outside of a few minor side characters, but it seems less like 'she's quit cold turkey' and more just she's got enough money and enough longrunning roles that she doesn't feel the need to go to every audition ever.
