Right now undead are at the top of my shit list. Undead are complete fuckers. Those geists are fuckers. Necromancers are fuckers. Necrosavants are big time fuckers. Skeletons aren't too bad except when they bleed everyone in the company. Zombos are at least not too bad.

:vince:
I love the new avatar. My opinion of the undead hasn’t changed either.

By the way, skeletons are a bit more menacing than I originally believed. I have recently learned about how much morale and fatigue affect accuracy and defense, so now I understand why skeletons appear to have mechanical accuracy and strong defense while my guys rapidly fall apart in front of them. I have no clue how to deal with this. Need advice.

YOU DON'T KNOW A DAMN THING ABOUT RACING !
I'm gonna post on the BattleBros forum later, maybe I get a dev answer. What I'm wondering about, is if they will change the endgame crisis events with the DLC.

Currently I play with perma destruction off, since there is no way to rebuild. And a lot of people asked for quests which allow to rebuild settlements once a crisis is over, that could actually be a nice quest line: clean out the monsters, escort a caravan of settlers, defend the new village for a week til it has it's own milita up. I think the devs even answered that request last year and how the game was finished and such a feature was no longer within the scope of the base game. Maybe the DLC changes that.

At the moment it's not ideal: if you turn perma destruction on, the world will end sooner or later and if you keep it turned off there is relatively little risk involved.

IM ONE OF THE GOOD ONES
Re: Skeletons, they're a one trick pony. They're crazy strong in formation and if you go for a typical clash of lines you'll get rekt because they're better at it than you, you'll never brute force your way past the shields before the pikemen chew you up.

The trick is to break up that formation so you can kill the polearm users while ignoring the shield skeletons until it's time to clean up, since their damage output is poo poo anyway. A few ways to do that are:

Using nets on the shield guys before they close. The ancient dead will, appropriately enough, march on mindlessly past any stuck comrade, leaving them out of position.

Sending an expendable bro to flank around in a wide arc and tie up a couple of skeletons until he inevitably eats poo poo. May be useful to also give him a dog.

Moving your main battle line into a nonstandard formation. A good one is a sort of concave, with high-damage flankers (preferably greatswords) slightly in front. This will funnel the shieldbearers forward and leave you with a clean shot on the pike skellies.

And, of course, the usual tips: bring axes, don't bring ranged weapons except maybe throwing axes if you use dedicated throwers, and have Recover on everyone. Nothing is foolproof though, the ancient dead are indeed absolute fuckers.

I never find axes all that worthwhile against them because by the time you shatter shields with them your bros are getting exhausted. You need axe mastery just to negate their shield mastery.

I also released the animals and now have another unarmored dog (I'm letting the new Wildman look after him/put the dog into his inventory) and a falcon.

I don't know how new that is but I've definitely gotten that within the last year. There was a wildman in a cage, mine didn't do as well as yours though.. Pretty sure it just blinded mine or something

Staggering my shieldbreakers in-between my other bros works well for me. Greatswords on the ends of the line, then scatter your other 2handers between your sword, mace, hammer, or whomever. I have a single 1hander axe bro who fills in the gaps between the 2handers, I can break sheilds very quickly this way.

If X is a shieldbreaker and O isn't, my front line looks like I'm hugging and kissing my way to victory ie: XOXOXOXOX

I don't bother with smashing shields most times because that usually just means the guy I just exhausted myself trying to shield break will now do +50% damage. This is particularly awful with orcs.

Usually prices are affected by personal reputation with the village or town in question and the modifiers it has. If they have safe roads, or well supplied, prices go down. If they like you, prices go down. If they have people going missing or are being troubled by greenskins or just don't like you, prices go up. And then there's just the availability of the things they are selling. If they are in wooded areas with lots of game they tend to sell meat more cheaply, and if they have a surplus of lumberjacks for hire they also probably have plenty of cheap timber.

General rule is that goods can be bought cheaply in the places they are harvested and sold for a profit at keeps or other major cities.

Just wanted to address this. There isn't a working mount system, it's actually a super hacky way of making wolfriders work. Basically, the wolfrider is one unit, and when he is killed, the game spawns an entirely new unit at half health, either the wolf or the goblin. I don't know how they coded the game exactly, but I imagine it wouldn't really be that easy make an entire new system so you can put on and take off brothers from a horse.

keep some Nachzehrers teeth in your inventory, and don't bother selling any items unless those teeth are going for at least 15 gold.

also do town quests. there's a gem mine in a village in my current game that was originally selling their raw gems for like 800 from their base cost of 580. after doing 2 quests for the town, they were selling them at cost to me, as well as buying loot for more.

I think it's best to deal with Ancient Dead by damage racing them for those reasons.
Their weapons do extra armor damage compared to regular weapons and they all have the Fearsome perk, so you want to end the fight before several bros are effectively naked and running away.
But Ancient Dead are fragile, at least compared to other endgame enemies like Orc Warriors, Footmen, other Mercenaries or the rare group of nothing but Fallen Heroes. You just need to get past the shieldbearing frontline.
You can do that with nets to disrupt their formation when they approach as has been mentioned.
You can break through the shields if you have bros that can do that fast enough. Their shields have low durability but they have Shield Mastery so iirc it takes a two-handed axe with Axe Mastery to one-shot them. I use one bro that's set up for that in the center to punch a hole into the middle of their formation to get to the pikemen in the back.
And you can just circle around their frontline with your main damage dealers. I f you can send two-handers to leverage their AoE attacks against the backline that backline will crumble quickly.

Also, since Ancient Dead can't gain morale and their weapons do a ton of armor damage but don't have the highest base damage values, sacrificial dogs are useful against them. They will definitely die but it'll probably take two pike attacks that aren't hitting your bros.

I avoid ancient dead until my frontline has 4 good greatsword bro's.

Just put them on each side and have them chop down the line. The guys in the middle need to do nothing but shieldwall.

If you have guys in the back they can poke at the dudes poking your guys but honestly they aren't gonna do much.

Yeah, I got the event in a new game and it turns out if you just send a bro who isn't a Wildman in he loses an eye because the caged Wildman hasn't been fed properly and likes a juicy eyeball.
Maybe there's a random chance for it to work out like with most events but, well, it seemed like a bad idea and it was. :v:

I never found someone who would pay what they were worth. I imagine they're like direwolf pelts or teeth and whatnot in that they may have a very, very rare case they can be used or sold for a great deal but if your inventory is at a premium, just sell them.

Let me tell you the tale of Hildrich Arrow-Catcher, the most frustrating archer I've ever had. On paper, Hildrich is amazing. He has Tiny, 2 ranged stars, Eagle Eyed, and he's a Hunter. He has a good ranged defense; this is important! He has a 25 base Ranged Defense and Anticipation and Steel Brow.

Somehow, Hildrich gets his rear end shot in every single battle. The AI just guns right for Hildrich, all the time, every time. 10% shots, 5% orc javelin throws, it doesn't matter, it's hitting Hildrich and he's taking more Injuries. I have no idea how it keeps happening. It's gotten to the point that all the Injuries are loving with his Mood really bad and that I renamed him Arrow-Catcher. The motherfucker is probably having nightmares that the entire world is made of arrows, and they're all pointing right at him.

I have no idea how the hell he isn't dead yet. :allears:

On the one hand the fight may be similar to ones that already exist but on the other hand anything that adds more variety to the game is good in my opinion.
