Also would it be rude to make a list of the games I have now and ask if there's any essentials I'm missing? I sourced a list through Reddit and tried to grab everything that looked cool, I have a bunch of room left on my memory card and I just wanna make sure I grab the classics on this dead handheld

Post it so the thread can give suggestions/get reccomendations.

Also I've watched the ending of Trails of Cold Stell and epic though it was supposed to be, the game engine really can't support whatever is supposed to be going on.

Am I reading it correctly or can any Vita run homebrew now? Not just 3.60 firmware?

Yeah with the caveat that if you're on 3.67 or 3.68 you have to re-run the exploit for homebrew whenever you reboot the console.

Which will be never because the battery lasts forever in standby, and if you do reboot it doesn't need an internet connection to run again anyway so it's not a huge headache.

3.60 and 3.65 can install a permanent exploit that persists through reboots but you need to jump through a few more hoops to play :filez: that require the newer firmwares.

Soul Sacrifice Delta is arguably the best game on this platform imo. It's up there with stuff like Persona 4 Golden and Killzone Mercenary.

I played Soul Sacrifice Delta, and even beat it, but I never found much satisfaction in it the same way I did in Toukiden or Monster Hunter. I just felt like the monsters took far too long to take down, and I constantly felt like I was doing something wrong, even when using elements the monster was supposedly weak to. The flavour is unmatched though, the stories and such are cool as hell.

Twenty-five dollars and a six pack to my name
Shiren is a fantastic roguelike.
Spelunky is a fantastic roguelite. Probably the best in the genre.
TxK is the best version of Tempest available with a fantastic soundtrack.
La Mulana EX is also the best version available.
Both EDF games are hella fun.
Muramasa Rebirth and Odin Sphere are the prettiest 2d games on the system.
Ys Memories of Celceta is one of the lesser games in the franchise but that series has a seriously high quality bar. Ys VIII also got a decent vita port and that game is just fantastic.
Every single indie platformer you can find including Shovel Knight, Super Meat Boy, Fez, Iconoclasts and Cursed Castilla since Vita has probably the best d-pad ever made.

Only P4G is a genuinely good game from this list. Killzone is a looker but it's more of a tech demo like Uncharted.

It looks gorgeous, plays pretty smooth, and the multiplayer is shockingly better than any other Killzone's. I paid for that bot zone DLC happily just so I could keep playing the mode for a few more months as the actual online is populated entirely by ultra-powerful Japanese players. The campaign is bite-sized enough and mostly pretty solid too, except for the dumb escort mission.

The best 57 in hockey.
I was also pretty shocked at how much fun I had with Killzone, I went in not expecting a lot but the campaign was satisfying. Didn't bother with multiplayer since I bought it quite a while after it came out and figured it'd be abandoned/full of people who would smash my brain in but it was worth the 10 bucks or whatever I paid for it on sale.

It's mostly the limited print games sites now. Developers had until just after E3 this year to claim a physical SKU from Sony and those who have one need to place final orders by February.

It's weird having a Vita as the system as a whole dies. Every system I've owned has been usurped by another before its final moments - by the time Sony cancelled the PS3, for example, it was already in my closet, with the PS4 in its previous space on the tv shelf.

But the Vita doesn't really have any actual successors. Like, maybe the Switch, but not really. So it's going to be very strange when I boot the thing up and realize that no games will ever be released on it again, and that from that point on I'll be going into the console's history for games to play, rather than wondering what's coming out on it in the future.

Just a strange feeling, is all.
