That page also shows you the sale price (if available) for particular models in the past 3 months. Just do the advanced search and select "sold" criteria. That's what I usually use to gauge pricing for a particular vehicle/grade/mileage. I haven't watched them all, but I know that JCD has a few YouTube videos that cover using the search engine and its various features. Awesome thank you I'll check out the videos Also I hope to one day have a van as ridiculous as this https://auc.japancardirect.com/aj-HtUZkbwAa1IAI.htm

Just on the glow plug situation- those indirect injection Toyota’s will NOT start without working glow plugs. You’ll crank em for a minute or two and then they might finally fire on one cylinder and kick the others along. So if it ever sounds like it’s only firing on 3 when starting or is a bitch to start, then take off the rail and check continuity on each plug between the body and rail. They also run for 20-30 seconds after starting to make the motor actually run properly so they’re really only good for around 100k kms before they need replacing I just had to replace all of em on my hilux because I had half of one left working and starting in the morning was 40 seconds of cranking and then another 30 seconds of not running on all 4 cylinders whilst being surrounded by a tyre fire worth of grey smoke

Yeah, stick-on wood trim was available for everything at one point. Looks like a Momo Race steering wheel, though, those are really nice.

Fauxtool posted:bidding on this tastefully riced cappuccino I know you said that the reserve wasn't met but the auction shows that it was cancelled. I'm pretty sure USS does weird poo poo all the time akin to hiding the final prices to somehow game the system in underhanded ways. The only auction house where I'll see results scrubbed or cancelled after the auction has completed. Basically, I dislike USS more and more the longer I'm in this. The stick on wood trim stuff is more common than you'd think and I'm actually really surprised it doesn't have a goofy wooden steering wheel along for the ride. This week both the AZ-1 and the Jimny are road-legal now so we've been driving them. The AZ-1 is better than I expected and I've taken to it very much. My wife with the Jimny also likes it a lot but is still getting used to driving a kei car around with the low weight and slab sides and quite low speed limit from what she's used to. Next week we're going to sign the lease 1200sq ft warhouse with 500 ft of (useless to us) office space with a single 12ft garage door. Pictured: what is going to be filled with hot JDM

They are arguing about it being an 85 or 86 because it is IFS and the 3 column grill, then they say it is the 907th built IFS truck making it an 86 I don't know how to link Facebook posts otherwise I'd just do that e: Oh, here we go https://www.facebook.com/1stgenrunners/posts/2122755581271708 BlackMK4 fucked around with this message at 02:43 on Sep 1, 2018 |

From what I've found USDM 4Runners were first, then the Hilux Surf was released in Japan afterward. I've linked it before but there is this brochure set I've found: http://www.en.japanclassic.ru/booklets/118-toyota-hilux-surf-1985-n60.html Although the brochure says 1985 it also says LN60 vs LN61 like my Surf. It was registered as a 1985 in Japan though so

Japan (usually) marks model years of cars as the actual calendar year that the car was manufactured in, unlike North America where the model year is generated by crackhead marketeers (e.g. you can buy a 2019 Corolla right now), so sometimes you see a 2001 JDM and a 2002 USDM Subaru that were made like a week apart. That may explain the discrepancy.

Found this: https://www.toyota-global.com/company/history_of_toyota/75years/vehicle_lineage/car/id60011317/index.html According to Toyota, August 1985 they changed over to an IFS front-end, that's plenty of time to have an 85 model with IFS. This is also where I read that the 4Runner came before the Hilux Surf.

Here, that would be an '85, because it was made/registered in '85.

Im sure each state is different but do I need to have the car physically present to register it the first time after importation? Is there a DMV inspection? I am wondering if I can have it shipped to CA where i live but have my brother register it for me in TX under his name before doing a title transfer to me later in CA. The backup plan would be to have it arrive in TX to be registered by him and then have it shipped to me in CA which is 100% possible but costs more. Surely it isn't as easy as title-transferring an out of state car to Cali without any of the other normal restrictions? I know of a few people in California that have JDM imports and one has it registered in Washington and the other has an exemption within California. It's a big PITA to have these with California titles because Cali is a special snowflake compared to the rest of the country.
