Because I love explaining things -- gently caress You Fleet is a fleet that specializes in electronic warfare. It uses newbie-accessible ships to inflict massed EWAR on hostile ships, neutering their ability to deal damage or heal other ships. It's hilarious because it allows fresh-faced,  newbies to shut down people who have been playing this game for more than a decade.

The vast majority of fleets (not all fleets, notably Clawfleet) are always happy to accept newbies in frigates, and we hand those out for free. It may seem like a small role but like Pomp said the small ships can do great work, and it'll familiarize you with fleet combat without putting anything on the line.

Crashing into other ships is called "bumping" and is a oseful tactic in some situations, as doing so can change the velocity of the impacted ships. Doing this to a friendly supercapital ship may get you primaried by your own fleet, which results in laughter all around if they determine you're just an earnest newbie and not a spy.
