Olympic Mathlete posted:You may not dig the actual car but the way the guy went about building it is smart. The fact all the suspension is stock angles and he just moved the body of the car around it is nuts... That's pretty flipping cool. I'm usually not a fan of super-low cars because of the compromises required, but this one was built at the ride height, mitigating that. And who can disparage a RWD wagon? In other news, GM is finally building a DOHC V8 again: https://www.popularmechanics.com/cars/car-technology/a22850752/cadillac-cts-dohc-v8/?src=nl&mag=pop&list=nl_pnl_news&date=082818 What I found most interesting is that not only is it designed to be twin-turbo from the start, it's got the turbos (and exhaust) in the vee, and the intake ports on the outside of the heads, like the current Powerstroke V8 diesel. Just a little while before used ones start showing up on the market...

That's my all-time favorite "cackle" video. Pretty sure I posted it at least once. Either that or I got it from here in the first place. The thing that gets me, every time, on this video is how completely insane the engine gets when they switch over to nitro (starts and warms up on gasoline.) It just goes from "powerful supercharged V8" to "eats babies and shits bullets". And the way that chassis just *jumps* when he gooses the throttle...

Buddy of mine in high school had an X-1/9. Neat little car. He bought my 128 sedan when another (mutual) friend totaled it, for parts, because of course the drivetrain in the front of my 128 was mostly the same as the drivetrain in the back of his X-1/9. His was newer with fuel injection, though. 1.3L of Italian fury. Edit: I drew both my car: and his: way back then. I really wish I'd have had mine long enough to slap some wide 13" alloys on there like that. Darchangel fucked around with this message at 22:38 on Aug 31, 2018 |
