The agreement was I provide the labor and he provides the capitol. profits split 50/50. I held up my end and worked 14 hours a day sometimes. saved a failing business and acquired contracts that provided steady income. He in turn compensated me by skimming the accounts and claiming we never made any money which lead to a disagreement and I left. The only problem is He never gave me my w-2(or 1099 whichever he claims I have) and now that I am trying to do taxes they are claiming I was paid much more than I actually was. I found out he was writing checks in my name. Cashing those checks and using the money to pay the other employees. ( through a check cashing place that knows us very well which is how I am assuming he was able to cash the checks)

This is going to turn out all fine and dandy: https://www.washingtonpost.com/nati...m=.082fb6b441c4 Lady runs out of gas and gets helped by a homeless vet, she sets up a GoFundMe for him that nets 400k, and now he's suing her and her boyfriend for the rest of the money they were 'holding' for him in a not sketchy personal account in their own names. It appears about $250k has been spent so far, but the vet spent two bouts in rehab so it's tough to tell if they're stealing from him or if he was sent off to really expensive rehab. They did give him $25k in cash that he spent in 13 days on a lot of drugs. So cool results all around that will probably end with a murder suicide. Of note, the homeless guy wanted to buy his dream car, a 1999 Ford F150 - and they wouldn't even get that for him. Also if that's his dream car then there's a 100% chance lost his virginity in a 1999 Ford F150.

I think there may be some pretty serious tax implications from all this. GoFundMe will send you out a 1099-K and it's possible to transfer that (and it's liability) to another party, but that might be tough to do if you've spent any of the money. A lawyer really should have been hired.

Florida woman could actually be okay on those numbers even with an unemployed boyfriend, assuming she doesn’t have a candle habit or lots of medical expenses. I really wonder what kind of place has a rent Ike that in FL unless she’s in a nice part of Miami or something. That’s like a pretty nice house in a lot of FL.

Especially if her boyfriend mustered the courage to make ~1k a month take home that would easily take the edge off.

The fun of being a professional sports bettor is that you can't live in the United States so start looking up places in the Caribbean.

Orlando rental rates for a one bedroom in safe part of town can reach $1350. You would be extremely lucky to get a 2bedroom for that price. Houses are way more than that. Miami is high as well and I don’t know about Tampa. Orlando home prices and rental rates have soared in the last 5 years or so. We had a friend that lived in a studio downtown that was paying $1750/mo a couple years ago and it’s only gone up from there.

There are professional sports bettors that make money, but it is mostly exploiting differences between betting houses and oversights (that are quickly corrected) like out of contention teams in the NBA not playing defense so players can pad their stats in contract years.

In that case it probably depends on with whom you’re betting and if they’re able to operate in the US. Just guessing here, but unless those sites are both going to be competitive with sites like Pinnacle in terms of vig and will actually let winners play, then the bettor still would still need to live abroad.
