Get this weird hosed up concept: you gotta pay for the electricity to make bitcoins, but you can't use bitcoins to pay for the electricity

It wasn't exactly fake news, although establishment media absolutely cheerled the march to war, because literally everyone knew it was bullshit. Everyone. If you posted about iraqi wmds in d&d back then (which was largely full of neocons and 'libertarians') you got laughed at. Colin Powell's UN presentation is completely laughable. It didn't matter. The decision was made.

i think whatever article you read was flawed

i don't think there's any real life application for any kind of blockchain that's not all about proof-of-work, i.e. a race to see who can waste the most electricity to run it

no. if you're limiting the number of servers it's more efficient to use a normal database

Taintrunner is referring to the first Gulf War, when the Kuwaiti ambassador's daughter testified that Iraqi soldiers were tossing premature babies out of incubators. Which was a lie.

Bitcoin wastes electricity because it was artificially designed to waste as much of it as possible, and because it's a global network that tons of people sink energy and money into because they think it will make them more money.

Blockchain is fine if you want a secure decentralized network for records keeping since it's hard to tamper with. Something that would only be updated sporadically as needed, and not every minute of every day like with financial or bitcoin transactions - which it's way too inherently slow to be any good at. The problem is that real world applications for blockchain are so marginal that nobody would care - which is problematic because blockchain developers want it to be seen as revolutionary world-changing technology that everyone is going to want to have or get left in the dust. It's not useful for constant real-time use like they want it to be.

Are we talking about the same person? Like I'm not a brown moses expert but didn't he just do a ton of image/video analysis on weapons, a plane shoot-down, stuff like that?

and a lot of work on ukraine and syria. all of this is extremely value neutral and has no other purpose than an informational service. citizen journalism. just the straight objective news

really though its all in service to creating a specific narrative in support of american foreign policy and western interventionism. the bana thing being the most shameless example of trying to drum up outrage, a child being used by some real bad hombres who wanted increased strikes in syria

edit: and yeah if you’re totally not aware of it, brown moses runs bellingcat, which receives funding from the US State Dept, for him to produce Extremely Normal, not-suspect analysis of conflicts the US is involved in
