The camera lens getting instantly covered in rubber/asphalt really drives home the violence that is happening to those tires.

I don't know how much Kranky weighs but ballpark about 1,000 pounds per corner, so you'd need a friction coefficient of 2.7 to hold the tires still against that. Yeah, they're breaking loose.

Well... This probably counts as one of the more comprehensive motor blow ups in recent times. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IW3ujpMytoI Pretty staggering the forces that motor saw tho- the pistons at 8200rpm (which is NUTS for a diesel) were putting 33,000 pounds of force on the rod bolts!

I love the failure analysis tho- "It revved to the moon, two pistons broke their big end bolts and came adrift. Those pistons hit the cam shaft, turned it into an S bend, which cracked the block along the cam tunnel. The Other 4 pistons, with 156psi of boost and an 1800hp output literally blew the top of the block clean off."

Fo3 posted:I was in Australia drinking a beer while watching it and I happened to go "YEEAH!" How does Marty know this? Well it was more based on Buicks and Pontiacs than the Nova BUT Holden was blighted by the presence of George Roberts, a USA suspension "engineer" who forced into the platform the ridiculously soft suspension and plough understeer. Removing the absolute crap he insisted on gave rise to a switch to Opel suspension engineers taking over and also to Radial Tuned Suspension which made a dramatic difference. One of my uncles restored an older (and more valuable) Monaro GTS 350 that was the Bathurst homologation. Yes it's worth stupid money. He bought it over 30 years ago. And I'm old enough the HQ was the preferred P-Plater car.... and yeah driven a few too. Three on the tree and those lovely brakes with appalling steering. WHEEEEEE

Even though I much prefer the competition to the HQ, I'm still a big fan of the old Kingswoods. I can't wait to see what they do with that thing, I had a feeling it would be something old, and as soon as I saw the front end of it come through the door I knew it'd be one of the racing HQs.
