the star trek shows were basically idealistic and optimistic. gleaming starships from a diverse post-scarcity socialist utopia cruising through the universe exploring, learning, and helping people when they can

star trek discovery is a grimdark mess that is much closer to the latter category

It's actually pretty good tbh. The jokes don't get in the way and it can be pretty funny sometimes. Otherwise it's basically TNG. The ethical dilemmas, the episodes based around weird scientific concepts, etc.

It basically means 100% of 2020 candidates will endorse M4A now. Which also means that when we do get "M4A," it will be means-tested "access" worthless garbage that's anything but actual single-payer without co-pays. Then we have to begin this whole loving charade all over again when Avenatti-care ends up sucking poo poo and not letting people go to the doctor when they're sick.

How can anybody be a democrat?

macfarlane is very left for hollywood/tv, he wrote all of the episodes of the orville and the union is pretty explicitly run on the principles of fully automated luxury gay space socialism, more so than the federation was in trek even

he just isn't Extremely Online. besides that tweet seems aimed more at non-voters than anybody, i don't think he's trying to further the nonsense about bernie voters not voting for hillary

The biggest risk to M4A has always been it getting adopted as a title for ineffective horse poo poo, best way to solve it is to put enough people in congress that they can make life hard for the centrists when they try it.

That has been particularly great. Like Obama is a narcissist. But not the kind say trump is. Obama doesn't just want to be "first black president, He wants people to be able to say, oh hey that guy made my healthcare better, he built up the economy. And he knows that isn't going to happen. I suspect he now hopes he can steal thunder from anyone. Now I bet he hopes it would be some lovely centrist. BUt don't doubt he'll do it if it's a leftist. unlike the Clinton's he doesn't have a movement's legacy like Third Way to protect.
