This would be a pretty fair case for Phoenix to just give in on. Evidence seems pretty overwhelming.

Case 2: Reunion, and Turnabout Investigation, Day 2 (Part 3) Been a while! Well, let's see where we left off. ...ah. Right. I'd forgotten why it'd taken so long for me to come back to this. Well, no way out but through. : (...So, this is where Ini was hospitalized...) : Ah, yes... Are you a doctor here...? : Hmm, yes... I'm Director Hotti... Hoh, hoh. : (Ack! I didn't think I'd be speaking with the Director himself...) : Hmm, yes...? So what can I help you with? Uh, huh... : I'd like to ask you a few questions about Ms. Ini Miney. : OH! Her! Ah, it's too bad. : I'll tell you something. That girl left here a long time ago. : ? : Ah, Sweet'ums! Calm down, calm down. Don't be so harsh to an old man like me. : If you don't behave, you'll get yourself tossed out of this hospital! : (Wow. I didn't think nurses could be this direct or forceful towards their boss.) : Come now. Be a good boy and give me the Director's white lab coat! : OK, OK. I got it. I. Got. It. Hmm, yes... : ... : ... : Um... : Hmm, yes? Uh, huh? : Don't "Hmm, yes" me. Who in the world are you? : I'm Director Hotti. Hoh, hoh. : ... (The nurse went off somewhere... Oh the inhumanity. Only person I can talk to...is this guy... ...Uuuugh...) Now, let's look around. : This must be the waiting area. It's got the feeling of one and there are sofas lined up... but I don't see all that many patients. : Hmm, yes... Well, it's the quality, not quantity that counts. Uh huh... : (What in the world did that have to do with anything...?) : This is the clinic's reception desk, but it doesn't look like there's anyone at the counter. On the wall is this month's "Word to the Wise": "Do something in vain, and your only reward is tiredness." Hmm, not exactly the best thing to be telling your patients, is it? : This patient is undergoing rehabilitation. : His whole body is swaying back and forth, wobble-wobble, like he's about to fall. Hmm, yes. : Hey! Don't just cut into my monologue like that! I'm explaining things here! : Ah, sorry. Hmm, yes... Most sorry... Yes... Uh, huh... : (I wonder where that door way down there leads to...?) : Oh, that's the X-ray room. Hmm, yes... : H-H-How did you know what I was thinking!? : Hmm, yes... Well, it's... Because that's the X-ray room... Uh huh, yes... : (There is something very peculiar about this guy... Because I know it's not me...) And now I guess we have to question, uh, "Dr. Hotti." : So, what exactly do you treat at this clinic...? : Hmm, yes... We treat all sorts of... doctory, clinical stuf, uh, huh, yes... : D-Doctory, clinical stuff? : Well, I don't actually know or particularly care about the details. Hoh, hoh. : ... : Hmm, hmm... Yes... What is that look for? A-Ah, yes. There's a really big general hospital around the corner. Hmm, yes... : When they can't accommodate everyone, they move some of their patients here. Uh, huh. : You do surgeries here, right? : Hmm, yes... We do some plastic surgery here, it seems... Hmm... : It... seems? : Hmm, yes... Uh, huh... It seems that way. : What do you know about Ms. Ini Miney? : From the general hospital...? To here? What kind of surgery did she need? : Hmm, yes... Well, she needed surgery. It was really bad. Really bad. : So what kind was it...? : Hmm, yes... Well... No, no... You see, that is something... No, I can't tell you. : (So you say with a happy smile on your face... "Mr. Director"...) : See, there's this thing about how doctors aren't allowed to talk about patient stuff. It's in all those TV shows too, right? You've seen them, right? Hmm, yes? : (I'm never going to get him to unzip those broken zipper teeth of his at this rate... There's got to be something I can show to this old coot...) If we show him one of Lotta's photos... : What do you think? Does anything grab your attention? : There's no mistaking this is nice... Hmm, yes... I like... Yes... I like this picture... : Hmm, yes... Mind if I borrow this for a while...? For... "private research" purposes... : Umm, that's okay... (I don't think I should support his "research"...) If we show him Ini's sister, Mimi... : Hmm... Hmm... I feel like... I feel like... Somewhere... I've seen her somewhere before, I think... Hmm... Hmm... : Well, when she comes tomorrow for her consultation, I'm sure we can get re-acquainted... : (...I don't believe this...) And Ini... : Y-Yeah, sure. : I wish I could see her again. Maybe the next time she has a big accident. Hmm, yes... : ...I'll tell her for you... : Hmm, yes... Please... Hmm... I'll be waiting for her... Hmm... Yes... Waiting... Himself... : You should try it too. My new hairstyle that I invented... : ...Ah, that's OK. I'll pass on this one... The badge... : I'm a lawyer. Right now, I'm investigating a murder. : Hmm, hmmm, yes... What is with your angry face? Violence isn't the answer, hmm, yes... : The trial is tomorrow. And I would really like some information from you. : Hmm... Is that right...? ...Well, you know, I think I can let you in on a little secret... : What's that? : Hmm, yes... Actually, ... : I'm not the real Director. : Are you kidding!? Anyone with half a fly's brain knew that! : Eh!? Wh-What do you mean!? : (Do I have to explain this to him...?) : Well, hmm... Hold on. I'll give you something. Real information, OK? : ? : I'm actually, this clinic's... See, I'm like this place's... "walking dictionpedia"...? : You mean "walking encyclopedia"? : Y-Yeah, that. And my specialty is in young, silky-smooth hottie patients... There's nothing I don't know about them... But I get "embarrassed" talking about it. : ...Yeah... How about you keep that kind of information to yourself...? : Hoh, hoh, hoh. Anyway, : you wanted to know about Miss Ini Miney, right? : ("Miss" Ini Miney?) : That girl... Ah, I remember her especially well... Really, especially, very well... Now we can try again. : Please tell me what you know about Ini Miney. : Hmm, yes... I'll get to that, trust me, I will. : That girl... That's right. She was transferred here from the general hospital. : This was... hmm, yes... a year ago. She was one of those... "emergency" cases. : What was she ill with? : Ill? Nah, nah, nah. She was injured, not ill. : With my trained eye, I could see. Yep, I could see it was a huge wound at that. : A huge injury? : Her whole body was wrapped around and 'round in bandages and her arm was in a cast. : That sounds... pretty severe, alright... : Hmm, yes... It was an accident; an accident. They're scary, yes? Cars, hmm, yes... : Car...? ...You mean it was a traffic accident? : Yep! That's what gave her the terrible injuries. I swore it was in the papers, hmm... : Yes, I looked it all up, I did. It was terrible... Hmm, yes... : (...Dare I even ask what is wrong with this old guy...?) : Just now... You mentioned something about a big operation? : Hmm? Are you talking about Miss Ini's operation? : Y-Yes... Miss Ini's. : That... Ah, that was one heck of an accident. : Hmm, yes... Her whole face was burned like bad toast. It was bad. Very bad. : Was it really that bad...? : Hmm, it was a good thing that Miss Ini had a picture of herself. I heard that picture was how they put her face back together... Hmm... : Picture...? : That girl, see, she had, uh... She had just gotten her license. So she just happened to have a license photo on her, hmm, yes... : Oh. : So, see, I got her picture. As a way to remember her, yes... Well, more like... Swiped... : (Um, breech of ethics...? ...Oh, wait...) Breach, Nick. : Um... Sure... : It's a treasure. My treasure... Preciiiious... : What happened to the actual license itself? : Who knows. I didn't bother to ask. It probably got burned up along with the car. Hmm, yes. : Um... So you "looked up" information on Ini's accident, correct? : Yep, yep. Sure did... Hmm, yes... I read every paper that covered it at the time. : What kind of accident was it, do you remember? : Hmm, yes... Hold on. I'll go get it for you. The article, I mean. : H-Huh? Y-You have it? : Well, well, well, don't get me wrong. I thought something like this might come up, so. He leaves. : (Obsessive to the max... But I bet I could learn about how to stay on a lead from this guy.) : The passenger's seat, huh? : And dozing... Or so it says. : A strong jolt woke her up, and the next minute, a sea of fire was all around her. Miss Ini fought with the door, finally got it to open, and somehow managed to get away. : ...Anywhoo, you can read all the details in the article. Hmm, yes... : (A new clue! I should probably look this over.) : It's been half a year since Miss Ini had her surgery and got better. She was discharged sometime in December last year. : (It's already been half a year, huh...?) : Hmm, yes... So, how was I? I was a real help, wasn't I? Hmm, yes... : Y-Yes... Thank you very much. : Hmm, yes... Well, then, I'll be getting back to my room then. : Tell Miss Ini I said hi, OK? Hmm, yes... He leaves. : (It's time for me to leave too, hmm, yes... Ack! OK, it's definitely time to leave!) And now, to Kurain! Thank god. : Yeah... I found out a few things... I guess... : ...What's the matter? Ya ain't lookin' so well. : Ah, yeah. So earlier, that ol' granny called the cops. : ...Huh? The cops? Why would Morgan call the police? : She said she had "somethin' to tell 'em". Things are sure gettin' interestin'. So, let's chat with Lotta. That'll be a nice change. : Ah, but honestly, I tell ya, that granny sure got her bloomers in a knot. : Well, I guess you could put it that way... : It always starts out small, ya know? : Stealin' the Master's seat, and controllin' the village folk... : and now ya see what it's turned into? A murder, that's what. : Yeah, what a mess. ... H-Hey, hold on! : What? : That stuff you were just talking about... That's the first I've heard of it. : Heh, really? : Well, it's old news to everyone else in the world. : (Well, excuse me for not keeping up with gossip while I'm busy saving people!) You said something about "stealing the Master's seat"? : Yup. : Right now, the Master is this medium named Misty Fey, but... : the one that was really supposed to be the Master was that old granny. : (Morgan was supposed to become... the Master...?) : Do you know where Ini is, Lotta? : Yeah, I saw her not too long ago. She's hangin' around that garden in the middle. : OK, thanks. : Ya got somethin' to ask her? : (Yeah. I've got a whole list of things only she can clear up for me...) : So I hear the Master has always been the oldest daughter. : The oldest daughter...? : Turns out, that old bat is Misty Fey's older sister... : O-Oh? : They say the older sister is usually the one with more spiritual power. : (Come to think of it, Maya said the same thing a long time ago... She warned me not to take Mia's powers lightly...) : Well, anyway... somehow, granny there lost to her younger sister, Misty. : I see... : This made the townsfolk turn against her, so I hear. Said all sorta things too, like, "She's the oldest, and yet she doesn't have the power to be the next Master. Disgraceful." : (Wow. I had no idea...) ...So what would've happened had Morgan been stronger...? : Maya's family woulda been the branch family, I reckon. While this is shorter than I'd like for my first update back, it is also the best place to cut us for now, given how long the next few scenes get. Next time: Confronting Ini. Oh hey, I was confused for a second and thought this was the Investigations thread Good to see this back! Hotti's schtick is bad, especially in a series where characters live or die by their schtick. At least the game acknowledges this by having him being a kooky patient, even though that's not quite enough for what he implies.

Welcome back! I see you didn't get the memo? I was seriously surprised to see tindeck links in your update and it kinda distracted me from the rest of the update. Let's see. Reasons to not use tindeck: - The owner has announced back in June/July that the website would permanently shut down on August 1, 2018, with all uploads deleted. For unknown reasons this did not actually happen but the notice is still up, so I'm quite sure it's running on borrowed time. - As far as I know new uploads are disabled entirely on that site. - Baldurk has already done all the work to transfer tindeck links on archived LPs to other hosting. If you ever want to get this LP archived, it wouldn't be very nice to make him do it again specifically for your LP. - Tindeck uses a Flash-based player. Flash is a deprecated technology, and most web browsers are probably going to make it harder and harder to play Flash going forward, because it's a known vector for viruses and in 2020 Adobe, the owner of Flash, is going to drop the technology entirely. Because almost all places already switched to something else, I didn't even bother installing the Flash plugin on my new computer so I can't play the links. I fully understand if you don't feel like going back and fixing all your old updates right now - but you're gonna make it much easier on yourself and others if you switch to another audio upload site for any upcoming updates. You can use lpix which support mp3 uploads up till a certain size, or Youtube I guess. And there's prob some more alternatives I didn't think of.

Clyp.it is another semi-popular one. There's a total track length limit for free accounts, but it's several hours, so you're unlikely to hit it unless you're using it for several music-heavy LPs.
