I am regrettably stuck at the �use an item to evolve a Pok�mon� stage of the research. What a dumb place to get stuck, but of course it was mostly self-inflicted because I�ve had seven days to figure it out.

That's a difficult question to answer. In the beginning I got nothing for months, but then they increased the odds and I started getting EX-passes every week. Later it became less again and I missed a few passes even though I raided a gym that was picked that week.
Of course there is also a chance that you don't get one because the next EX-gym in the same park happened to get more traffic that week so that got picked over the one you raided, or because it happened to have a raid at the time that passes were given out (they never get picked then), or there happened to be too few people playing that week for it to be picked, or it was picked but too many people/spoofers raided that particular gym and got all the passes, or it had another EX-raid too recently, or a variety of other possible reasons.

I think most of the people who want a level lift will already be at the XP needed for 50, by the time Niantic opens those particular floodgates.

If they're going to increase level cap, I'd put safe money on it being tied not only to exp, but also to specific badges. This is how ingress levels work beyond a certain point, and it seems fairly logical for pogo as well.

Ideally they'd release platinum or platinum/onyx badges at the same time, or it ends up not having much effect. God knows I've been gold on almost every badge for a while now.

I won't personally be there but I know the "host" from raiding and he's a pretty cool guy. Counterbalance park is at 700 Queen Anne Ave N. Be on time, be prepared to walk and raid/catch at the same time, and be willing to run if it has bad IVs and they're already at the next raid. Bonus: it takes you through all of downtown. Have fun!

We did this for an hour and a half. Thanks for the recommendation. Started a bit slow (the first gym was locked due to an ex raid, the second had so many people there that everyone seemed to get kicked out), but eventually we sped forward with a smaller group of people and a bunch of fun. Thanks again!

Yeah, I'd be down for Platinum badges being added eventually, along with a level cap boost. I just hope they wouldn't make the Platinum requirements too crazy.
