Crazycryodude posted:Seriously though Grey go through Burma This, I voted for attacking India as well but this is gonna take more than five months of waiting in addition to getting everyone killed when they get there. Attacking India will work with the number of men we have but losing everything this way feels like some weird parody version of the thread.

Just put two toys before Grey Jr. and if he takes left one then Charnel House, right will be Silk Road. Kidocracy

I'm pretty sure that range is impassable. Turn on all the hexside details and a fat red line turns up in the mountains.

I would say give Charnel House a final big push and if that fails maybe call the game? If we can’t take Chungking then it seems very unlikely that either side will be able to secure enough points to win before the end date.

I'm ok with a cordon sanitaire around Chungking and moving on to India. But if you're going to do it, do it without marching the IJA over that mountain range. I just think we're not gonna hear about that army for -forever-....kinda boring.

If the Allies managed to run a supply line over the himalayas, I'm sure Japan can as well, with indomitable bushido spirit.

Most bombers in the game can actually be used as supply transports on a temporary basis, but they're lousy at it. What Grey could do, if he has the "resizing allowed" settings on, is make maximum size IJA air wings with those 800 Helens that are in reserve and use them to deliver supplies. Unfortunately they're pretty lousy- they can deliver less than a ton of supplies per flight, so the maximum you'd get in a hex per turn assuming maximum efficency is around (.90 * number of planes flying), which in practice would work out to a couple of hundred tons of supplies per turn at most. That's probably enough to sustain at most a single division that's in active combat. Triggerhappypilot fucked around with this message at 01:28 on Sep 11, 2018 |

What kind of travesty is this? Better. Much better. I'm upset, but also surprised I still have subs in 1944. I don't see a point in stopping the bombing! The Allies seem to be getting their war on at the moment! We take some losses today. I have been keeping a surprise from you. These girls are now ready, and the rest of the Kido Butai will be active in a week (barring one CVL on late upgrade) – so we will have a good sized carrier force once more!

Woo! Two new carriers, full air wings, and hopefully moderately trained pilots! And the thing with PT Boats is they have torpedoes and they can occasionally get at least one torp off and if it hits they can get a ship kill. They're small and fast and basically a mini-corvette.

100% on board for a late-1944 IJA invasion of India but dear god please take the actual road through the himalayas

Admittedly this was because of an extremely stupid play by the AI but either way it shows that PT boats can punch way above their weight.

Their torpedos were very effective, they were small and fast so were hard to hit for escorts. Even Destroyers could only really fire secondaries at them. If they could get within a few hundred meters and do torpedo runs and get hits they could cripple much, much bigger ships. And even if most of them were blown up? They were jsut PT Boats - they could be built in a few weeks and had a crew of /maybe/ a dozen. So no huge loss. Even if 10-15 of them were lost for a single hit, it was an even trade.

The Katsuragi! My lucky ship never had the chance to show up in the first attempt of this thread or in steinrokkan's thread, hopefully she'll be able to do more than her historical performance of getting bombed in port by the Allies.

The "destroyer" is a contraction of the longer "torpedo boat destroyer", as in a ship that has just enough of a gun to sink torpedo boats, but is small and therefore fast enough to catch the things and screen the capital ships

Youtube confuses me. What is my most watched video of the year? One of my newer RPG's? The eternally popular Rogue Trader game? Nope, its the little map video I did at the end of WITE..... Now I have a terrible urge to "give people what they want" and do a video LP of WITE, as my sat game has ended and I have 3 hours a week. all I'd have to do is move Close Combat videos to days where I'm not doing Combat mission.... Nah, leave it till after Combat mission has ended. But still, wtf youtubers, why is this so popular?

it's a pretty watchable version overview of the game itself and the Eastern Front in general. Remember that your competition is people who take screenshots in Paint and then post them on Matrix forums while also being unable to stitch them together into a large image and also they just post raw combat reports. You actually know how to tell a narrative!

Yeah, my thoughts are once Combat mission wraps, I should have enough practice at WITW to kick that off, then I can use my sat nights to record a WITE series. Video would be different to the core image ones I do, but has less time per turn - realtime with no pausing to type things out. WITW would def get a proper screenshot LP though! the WITE would mainly be me messing around as the Soviets!
