(Me, a guy who just bought a Vita): Hey guys what’s going on with the Vita these days?

Sony is shutting down physical game manufacturing for the west and new physical games could not be submitted after E3 this year. The factory will take cartridge orders until February 2019 to have everything wrapped up by the end of the fiscal year March 31, 2019.

So what happens in vita memory failure, does the whole thing die or does it lose data randomly and you keep using it hoping it doesn’t lose it again?

I mean, you could try reformatting a card that's already lost all your data and hoping for the best, but I sure wouldn't recommend it. Fortunately you can back everything up to your PC in case that happens, although the interface for doing so isn't the most user-friendly thing on earth.

I had a 64GB card get so hosed up that it wouldn’t back its data up, and when I have up and reformatted, it straight up died. Nothing could even read that it was plugged in.

The 32GB I got as a replacement is still alive, luckily, but sometimes throws that one common error when playing some digital games that spooks me.

Mostly the latter, sometimes the former. My 64gb poo poo the bed twice before I got rid of it, lost all my games both times.

I had two 32s fail on me and lost all my P4G data. That’s probably my biggest gaming loss. I absolutely love the Vita and would play it for years to come if I could guarantee the safety of my data. I’ll be looking to use non Sony memory cards in the future.

Vita TV arrived, testing out while visiting Mom for the weekend. Works great! Pretty happy with it as a remote player.

Edit: PS4 controller would definitely be better

Was going to say you can't use a DS4 with a VitaTV, but it seems you sort of can.

It sounds like pre-2016 DS4 controllers may have worked via cable (no good if you cfw and use the USB cable for expanded storage) and then there's this plugin that just popped up a few minutes ago on a search: http://wololo.net/2016/12/26/ds4vita-use-ds4-with-ps-vita/

E: Okay, maybe DS4 pads just work normally, though I recall people in here saying the touch pads didn't always work.

PS Vita update 3.69 has been released.

Do not update unless you want to lose all the homebrew capability.

Yeah it's been "Security Updates" for like nearly 2 years now. They have to do it until they ship their last retail games next year probably, out of respect to the people still developing for their platform

Although tits and anime were important parts of that thread, I don't like people making fun of the guy's name since it's - as far as I can tell - a name from Mexican mythology. It's crass, I think, and hardly clever.

It's probably best since the new Senran Kagura anime is actually going to show boobs and is restricted to a satellite TV channel.

Hah, I was just thinking about renting one of the SK games to see if they were fun. You could see if you could make a franchise thread for it in ADTRW. There's at least one thread there for a game (DBZ phone game), and if they had a rule about sexualizing underage characters they wouldn't be able to talk about half the shows in any anime season (as lovely as it sounds when you say it like that.)

On the moon... they don't make Neo Kobe Pizza.

Senran games kinda suck. The 3DS games are average side-scrolling brawlers, the PS4/Vita games are hyper-linear dripfed Musou clones pretending to be character action games and doing neither right, then you've got a ton of spinoffs that are just awful gimmick games like the cooking rhythm game or Splatoon with Tits.

I mean, that it was pretty much the consensus in the thread.

It does suck that it was closed without feedback from the threads regulars though.

Something I've often wondered while playing Vita games: do devs put softcore porn elements in otherwise normal games because they expect the player to jerk off while playing them? I've played so many dungeon crawlers on this system that throw in some panty shots or other cheesecake every so often, and in my head i'm picturing the sexual equivalent of a poopsocker, cranking one out to Demon Gaze so they don't have to stop playing mid-sesh.

That is just how Japanese developers roll, fanservice has always been part of their culture. That said, I don't understand why western players get so bent of shape about it; if you don't like it, simply ignore it.

Probably because it turns otherwise mechanically interesting games into shameful things you can't play in polite company, or even on your own if you find scantily clad cartoon tweens distasteful.

The one saving grace is that "mechanically interesting" isn't usually a description that applies to titty games so nobody is really missing much.

Back when the first Bullet Girls came out I watched a couple videos and thought the gameplay looked legitimately fun enough that I was hoping it would get an english release. I ordered Bullet Girls Phantasia, but now I don't know if I want to actually play it because all the "rape" gameplay poo poo is pretty drat creepy looking. Watching videos, it looks like there's more of that than the actual run and gun segments.

Effortposting about this is a fools errand so I will try and keep it brief. The problem is not any one anime titty game. If Senran Kagura was the only anime titty game on the block it would be whatever, minus like one or two particularly egregious characters. But it's literally 95% of anime games, and realistically it's also probably 75-85% of games just in general. To ignore it means to essentially have to ignore the entire industry.

I mean, isn't like developers make an effort of hiding the fanservice to mislead the consumer base (all the contrary in fact) so, anyone willing to play those games knows from the get-go what they're getting into. Furthermore, most of those games have the Japanese market as their bigger audience, leading to little to no incentive from the developers to change their approach.
