I find peak Alan Moore and Frank Miller to be a lot harder to like nowadays if only because of how it served as a blueprint for so much of the idiocy that came after. I can't blame them personally for it, though Miller certainly wrote a lot of that bullshit himself as time went on, but just looking at the big ones, they were groundbreaking stories but the imitators came along and now they just seem part and parcel of that particular age of comics to come. That said, Moore does hold up better than Miller, probably if only for the fact that he was able to tonally shift his writing, where Miller has one mode for better or worse. remusclaw fucked around with this message at 21:44 on Sep 15, 2018 |

That's a comic that will gently caress you up. I'm assuming it wasn't on the original release but I love this bit of text they put at the opening of the collected version. "This is an IMAGINARY STORY (which may never happen, but then again may) about a perfect man who came from the sky and did only good. It tells of his twilight, when the great battles were over and the great miracles long since performed; of how his enemies conspired against him and of that final war in the snowblind wastes beneath the Northern Lights; of the women he loved and of the choice he made between them; of how he broke his most sacred oath, and how finally all the things he had were taken from him save one. It ends with a wink. It begins in a quiet midwestern future. Away in the big city, people still sometimes glance up hopefully from the sidewalks, glimpsing a distant speck in the sky...but no; it's only a bird, only a plane --- Superman died ten years ago. This is an IMAGINARY STORY.... Aren't they all?"

You know when you're sleeping, and you're just on the verge of waking up, and you stretch your legs out cause it feels so nice, but you stretch just that little bit too far and your calf muscle goes "hey whAT THE gently caress" and you're rocketed awake by the shooting pain in your lower legs and you've got approximately eight seconds to haul yourself out of bed and stretch that muscle out by doing the "try to push the wall over" exercise, otherwise the muscle will roll itself up like a cheap window blind and you'll be hobbling around the office all morning? These poor women all hit the nine second mark and I feel so bad for them

Can't say I've ever seen a vagina, grade A or otherwise, in my funnybooks. Milo Manara has the decency to just graphically suggest the pubis mons.

I like that she's wearing a skirt that, if she were to stand up straight, would cover literally nothing. It's basically a waist ruffle at this point.

I'm pretty impressed. I think even people who like cheesecake would hate this. It's a design only the most hopeless of creeps could love. Maybe the anatomy is competent but even if you called it porn it would be too shameful to appreciate. I wouldn't even call it the ultimate form of a waifu body pillow, because most waifus are designed to have some semblance of charm and personality or whatever. That's how they get their fanbases. This has less than no taste and has all the personality and charm of a corpse dressed in stolen clothes.

It's like someone took all the embarrassing elements of Modern Harley Quinn and none of the good ones and grafted them all onto a generic 90s anti-hero. What is it with these loving people and the 90s?

When she gets out of the shower or fights in the rain that must weigh about 60 lbs. Most women get cranky about all the boobs and butts and broken spines in comics (and rightfully so), but as a former long hair haver, my pet peeve is stupidly unrealistic hair. It's a pain in the rear end to deal with, living a normal life; I can't imagine getting in superhero level fights with it. I think that's why I like the short-haired Selina Kyle design so much. When you're breaking into a museum to steal a diamond, ain't nobody got time to gently caress around with bobbypins so you don't get get temporarily blinded by your own hair while hanging upside down from a skylight.
