Differences between water and earth make this difficult. Land stops hurricanes. There were a few snowball earth periods but then there wasn't enough heat for a storm. Apparently really early on there was a period where earth was a water world 4.4 billion years ago, maybe then.

flooding of downstream waterways when there's been a lot of rainfall over a large area is usually worst a day to several days after it's rained, since all the water's gotta slowly work its way from high ground into small upstream waterways, where it then collects downstream

upstream and in higher elevations is where you get flash flooding right after rainfall the worst, since usually sloped land and rocky/clay soil doesn't hold water v well

Not permanent, but there is a theory that after the meteor impact off the Yucatan, that it would have spawned multiple hypercanes due to the large amount of energy/steam put into the atmosphere

http://discovermagazine.com/1995/apr/hurricanefromhel498

quote:

Emanuel and his colleagues ran a computer simulation of a hurricane over a pool of hot ocean. The computer spat out a phenomenal storm--20 miles high, with winds approaching 500 miles an hour.

The water that created this hypercane was so hot--120 degrees at the center of the pool--that the team knew such a storm couldn’t occur in the present climate or in any climates that Earth had experienced, except maybe near its origin, Emanuel says. But we thought that under extraordinary circumstances one might have observed such a storm. A large asteroid or comet slamming into the ocean floor, for instance, would release a lot of heat. If an area of ocean at least 30 miles across were heated to around 120 degrees, Emanuel and his colleagues have found, the result would be a hypercane

Tons of tree branches down and the fence outside is in pieces. Most probably not on the hook for any damage but my complex is run by an rear end in a top hat so I've been trying to move out for two months; eff if I know what he'll come out with.

I'm good. Had to mop water off my tiled lower section of house which is a converted carport that is ground level. Sandbagged around the doors but still weeped through bricks and seals. Otherwise okay. Floods hosed the roads all around me though and lots of people are just now starting to get power back.

lol yeah sure the hog poop lagoon 'hasn't overflowed yet' and are 'on the brim' only because the owner is constantly pumping the poo poo out and letting it flowing into the creeks, which is the essentially same as overflowing
