I think I just thought you guys had something more than "determination", something any protagonist would have in a superhero movie. So far we got "determined soldier" which is something I guess but not exactly a character I'm thrilled to see? Does the character have any other traits in the comics?

You're either being deliberately obtuse or you really have trouble following simple things. It's a teaser trailer you clown. The images of her falling down and getting back up throughout her life are supposed to convey, quickly, and without words, the type of character that she is. Combine that with the emphasis on "her" as the words "A Hero" fade into the screen. Just use your loving brain. The reason people are making fun of you is that you can't seem to grasp that they're showing "Determination" because it's a defining aspect of the character. While many people are capable of being "Intelligent" it is a defining trait of Tony Stark, for example. So showing him designing a suit is a good way to portray him in a teaser trailer. Showing Carol, a woman who routinely fails and finds the strength of character to get up and keep going, doing...exactly that...is a good way to demonstrate who she is. That might not be your bag. That's okay. But people are laughing at you because of your seeming inability to understand how this works, especially in a first-look teaser trailer that isn't meant to do much but get fans pumped and let the general public know, "there's a new movie coming, stay tuned!"

It was really weird watching people on social media go YASSS QUEEN for ages when they retooled Carol as Captain Marvel, and then the comics finally made it to the shelves and they were just kinda bad. All that excitement over the idea of a character not sucking for once. It's kinda like Sonic the Hedgehog fans. THIS game will be the good one!
