Holy poo poo. This thing is a blood bath. It’s just pure stream of conscious rambling. The first paragraph in particular means nothing. Then there’s this

“For one, though he is exceptional when running with the ball past and between players when given open space to run into, he has a pretty loose first touch and his close control doesn’t fit the standard Barça have set for generations with the likes of Messi, Neymar, Iniesta, Ronaldinho, Henry, Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Cruyff.”

What the poo poo does that mean? He’s good at dribbling in the open when not under pressure? Who has ever cared about that? And if you’re saying his dribbling is good why are you also criticizing it in the next sentence? gently caress you, Billy.

I agree that Billy is awful but someone, ANYONE having the capability to actually oversee and edit his copy like BMV alluded to, could at least reign in his worst tendencies.

e: also lol that every single comment is dragging him for the same stuff

I could be wrong, but I think staff writers at outlets like Deadspin pretty much post whatever they want. Stories aren't getting edited in the traditional sense unless they come from freelancers. One of their editors is a friend of a friend so I should probably just ask.

That seems true and would explain a lot but I thought Deadspin had *relatively* higher standards.

I think the ones you may be thinking of are like Bleacher Report and Sports Nation and those lovely federated ones where they basically don't pay contributors who are super-fans of whatever team so are quasi-volunteers but still have expectations for "content."

That's the same sentence lol

Nothing sad at all.

Personally did not want us to progress further in this League Cup. Getting through to carry on and win it would weaken us in Bigger Cup title race. Just my opinion.

Just wanted us to bow out gracefully and not just turn up with a 'not bothered attitude' and we are accused of 'chucking the game'.

Good to have played this match as Klopp and the players can spot Chelsea's defense weakness and plan to keep Hazard quiet the whole game on Saturday.

I am actually Very Happy and Glad today.

Outside of a central thesis involving a surprise American nuclear attack that wipes out Europe, Mexico, and South America I'm not sure how this book has the material to be written.

I suppose another theory could be "Donald Trump becomes Dictator, bans all team sports other than soccer".

i think thaat sentecne means he is good once he gets moving down a channel but when he receives the ball to feet his first touch is not so good and he cant get out of tight situations well when there are people aroujnd him. game set and match billy imo

One reason put forward to explain why the great plague did not just keep on ravaging the human race forever is that it ran out of people to kill. The vulnerable succumbed. Those who were resistant grew stronger. Meanwhile the plague remained the same, stuck in its old plague ways, scowling on the periphery, reduced to the odd destructive burst.

There are of course many points of difference between José Mourinho’s approach to winning at football and the bubonic plague. But
