I like the change where I'll never have to hold some rear end in a top hat's feet ever again. Only downside is not getting to rip rear end in some joe's face.

The only way you can "cheat" is moving your weight from one arm to the other in a faux yoga pose. gently caress that bend at the middle thing. Never saw anyone sag and come back to do a push up correctly. Also gently caress pushups.

Implementing this plan as it exists on paper right now is the absolute worst idea. Which is precisely why the Army is going to implement it, and then wonder for years what went wrong.

It's either going to be completely scrapped, or there will be alternate/profile stuff allowed. I get that we're all super hard charging tough guys up into our 60's, but some of the actual technically proficient people that we've got to have are stumpy broke guys. Unless we just make them all civilian contractors *writes down in green notebook*

While I could see them make adjustments for profiles and/or add alternate events, I'll eat my hat if this gets scrapped entirely. The last time we went through this around 2012 or so (the one with five events that included the rower and the long jump), the whole thing got canned because "fitness experts from the Department of Physical Education at U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command, and California State University-Fullerton" recommended that there were better exercises we could do to measure how effective Soldiers would do in combat. So, the Army did a "Baseline Soldier Physical Readiness Requirements Study," used that data to develop the ACRT, and put the big Army stamp of approval on it, which they never did with the last one. At this point I feel like there are too many gears in motion and eval narratives on the line to stop it. Better to just get ready for it if you're still in or keep peepin butts and gettin high if you're not.

The new PT test seems like a pretty good measurement of someone's fitness, which is great, that's what a test is meant to do. But el to the loving oh el at the idea of the Army: - teaching people how to SAFELY trap bar deadlift - changing the fitness/PT culture so that everything involved in that series of movements now has training priority - telling people with profiles to get hosed Maybe I'm just being pessimistic and this is the first step in a long overdue shift to actual combat readinessahahahahaahaha

Soldiers in support companies have got to be the most god awful, incompetent soldiers in the Army. I'm not even a trained logistician and I have to double check to make sure they do poo poo right. They have 5 loggie officers and like 7 E7 and above. I have no idea how they consistently gently caress everything up.
