I bought an Xbone today since it was under $300 and came with 3 months of game pass and gold. Man, it's honestly a pretty decent console, and I really appreciate the game pass and backwards compatibility. The controller is fantastic, and it's just such a shame it doesn't have more exclusives.

I never had a 360, so it's nice to finally be able to play things like Halo 3.

I could just be having a rush of nostalgia from when I only had an Xbox when I was kid, and I spent most of my day just playing through Halo 1, while I wait for other games to download. I'm starting up Grabbed by the Ghoulies now. The Rare Replay is also a really nice thing that was only $10 on Amazon.

If you have a bluetooth controller you can stream games from your PC to your mobile phone now.
I downloaded the steam link app a while back but never tried it.

I tried playing Gaiapolis last night but that game must be a technical powerhouse because it ran at about 5 fps when 95% of the rest of my library runs just fine.

Help Im Alive
Nov 8, 2009

Pretty much all of the Vita's best games are on PS4/PC at this point but I bought a lot of rhythm games/visual novels/indie ports/Monster Hunter clones/PS1 games and then there was stuff like Gravity Rush/EDF/Wipeout/Lumines/Rayman/the best version of Everybody's Golf

it was good rip

e: also weirdly the vita killzone is apparently the best one but I didn't buy that

Vita is still my preferred platform for late PS3 era RPGs like Legend of Heroes because I just can't be bothered to play 80 hour long games unless I'm in bed and don't feel like moving

Carly shook her glass, willing the ice to melt. "You still haven't told me what the mission is."

She leaned forward. "We are going to assassinate the bad men of Hollywood."

One of my dormmates from my first year in college was super into Gunbound and would try to get me to play. I did a couple matches before realizing "I would need to play a million games to ever get any of the cool stuff" and never touched it again.

People get real used to everyone knowing how to do everything already and it's amazing how little patience people have for other players not knowing everything, especially when nobody does.

I say this knowing full well how annoyed I get at players loving up mechanics even though I gently caress up just as often :v: I just don't ragequit over it

Yeah, I played a lot of Gunbound back in the day. I like that kind of Scorched Earth-type of gameplay. There was a pseudo-3d version of Scorched Earth that I remember playing but I've never been able to find it again. It has simple tanks on a rotatable disk, and you could set up your loadout before each match by purchasing different types of ammo. I think it was freeware but my occasional searches only pull up big, gaudy 3d versions of Scorched Earth and not my sleek, simplified one.

there was a time there in the dark ages before "indie games" was an established market where freeware scorched earth clones were a dime a dozen. it basically went "write a program that outputs hello world" -> "make a scorched earth clone"

Dome Wars was my freeware Gunbound equivalent of choice back in the 90’s. It was fun at the time but so janky and weird and the animations didn’t always work. Gunbound was really fun and I remember getting pretty good with one of the trick shot characters but it took some intense play to get a fancy hat.
