Egalitarian is pretty good and a close second, but my heart belongs to Xenophile. I find "We have declared war, because some people have to learn the hard way" to be the best line, but the general peppiness about everything is nice. I do wish that advisor had more voice lines, though, there's only one for each situation and that's just not enough variety. Hell, more voice lines for the advisors it has in general would work just fine.

Earth's orbital speed isn't constant, as it's not in a circular orbit - and while your ringworld (being a circle!) wants to be in a circular orbit, all the individual bits of it don't want to be because circular orbits are unstable. Viz, any interaction on any given piece of it aside from the precise force required to keep that piece in a circular orbit will want to kick it into an elliptical one.

I'd also pay for Comms Chatter DLC (radio chatter) during battles or when selecting fleets, similar to the democracy screen. Oh and also flavor popups like Alpha Centauri on tech research that uses $LEADER_NAME for more #immersion pdx hire me as a designer!!!

Homeworld's use of coms chatter was really insane for its era. I'd say it's top tier, maybe the best use ever. They made it sound like that because it simultaneously perfectly fit the setting and also drastically reduced the amount of disk space the files took up.

EUIV TRADE IN SPACE i bet trade value is tied to the number of clusters a route passes through, so bad guys can gently caress up a federation's economy by cutting important trade routes during a war.

It looks like some systems (but not all?) have some sort of trade value on them - I guess that's what the platinum coloured ring is supposed to represent. Maybe it's a new resource deposit you find on some planets now as well as something you can produce?

I know this is a joke but I'm pretending it's not. I especially like the one that would presumably just be explanations and complaints about how what you're trying to do will work so much better in a few patches. e: "Tiles are going away, so I suppose we'll need to call these things something else. Region blockers? Resource blockers? Anyway, tile blocker cleared." "Enemy ships en route to our system! And not a unique resource among them, just carbon copies tramped out over and over god it sucks." "Trade routes! They're not in the game yet but I'm just very excited about them. Construction Complete." Splicer fucked around with this message at 15:53 on Sep 21, 2018 |

"Your insatiable need for innovation and improvement has been rewarded yet again. Upgrade complete." "As Paradox elevated this game from 1.0 so we have uplifted these fetid pre-sapients into something approaching a functional race." "Incoming communications IT'S A DEV TWEET no wait false alarm it's just aliens."

According to a reply to the tweet about trade routes "you will have control over them." Doesn't say if they can or cannot be automated, but if I can deal with personally setting up every trade route in a Civ and Anno game I can deal with ot here, too. In fact I'd probably prefer it so it doesn't start setting up stupid routes.

I imagine that planets will have some kind of upkeep and it’s inefficient to produce everything on site. So the control aspect is deciding what a planet imports and exports. An agriculture world would need to import luxuries and basic industrial goods to run smoothly while exporting food. I imagine that new colonies will also have a significant upkeep cost in goods sourced from other planets until they become more self sufficient. I expect to see the energy credit upkeep of an establishing colony replaced with an imports requirement.

DrSunshine posted:I wonder if an interesting small DLC would be to allow a start as a pre-hyperspace civilization? To offset being locked-out of the regular game for the first hundred years, it'd be focused heavily on unique event chains to give you stuff to do in your one solar system, as well as some unique buildings and projects to build that concentrate on terraforming/improving your starter world. The projects would have a theme of a civilization transitioning to Kardashev level I - so various planetary-scale megaprojects, like developing fusion power, draining oceans, building arcologies, establishing a post-scarcity economy, and so on. It'd be interesting to cover that period of history, I don't think I know of a game besides the Call to Power series that ever covered that transition. There's a mod that kind of does this, but it ends up being like you said, where you're at like 2278 and you finally get your first FTL tech. It wasn't very fun. I'm not sure how this game would handle quite what you are describing on the planetary front though. But planetary megaprojects beyond straight up terraforming could be interesting.
