so i made it to post-game and i can't believe dragon quest is doing a homestuck edit: wow, what a terrible top of page, uh... the musical score! all the callbacks to previous games are neat to hear, and do's music has also been kind of iterative with each installment, but i feel like the end result has left xi with very little musical identity of it's own? it's just so weird for me for a dq ost to not be at it's a-game AriadneThread fucked around with this message at 05:51 on Sep 22, 2018 |

Kinda weird to see a Dragon Quest game actually give a different outcome to a yes/no question, though. This is the series that invented "but thou must."

Man, that middle(?) of Act 2 revisit to Arboria was a gut punch. I thought they were just gonna do the misdirection on me last minute. Then it really hit me when the message that Serena now knows all of Veronica’s spells and abilities came up. Horii why...

Alright goons, I just started DQ11. Well, I'm about 2 hours in. I didn't do all the quests in a particular area before I continued on in the game. Am I screwed, and need to go back to restarting the game in order to get those quests done?

Need snooze n' bruise for a quest target. Got characters with the goods. Got them ready, with the right weapons, pepped up. Doesn't appear for a pep ability. In other news, beat my replay of DQ7 in my journey through replaying the series after finishing 11. Re-confirmed it as my favorite, though 11 HAS beaten out 6 for the second best slot in my mind. The insane length and variety of vignettes just really works for me, I guess? Like, I can see a lot of the weak points people complain about, but a lot them just don't really affect me. Like, people complaining about having to talk to random NPCs is just ??? for me since I ALREADY talk to every single NPC in a town after every single event while also pressing the party talk button after talking to every single one in case my party wants to comment on what they said (There is a surprising amount of these, even for stuff like revisiting old areas and such). I never minded having to re-do old areas because it's just more opportunity to get more job battles for my all-consuming need for fancy job stars. And revisiting towns in the present was always super cool, especially to see what they remembered of the old days. The last bit of it is still kinda weak, the game is really the strongest when you're still filling out islands imho.

If you look in the top right you'll see those are call "material" and they are given a rarity grade. No idea what uses them off the top of my head, but other then slime drop, those two aren't common so you probably want to hold on to them.

Hell, I've never sold anything in this game and I'm still rolling around in a scrooge mcduck money bin. You can *almost* always craft better stuff than you can find for sale and most materials are easy to farm, cheap to buy, or both. Gold just doesn't do much in this game unless you don't like the crafting minigame for whatever reason.

Slime Quest's autorunning is nice, but I found I wasn't making nearly as big a profit as just spinning the regular slots and hitting Metal Mode.

You do find those platinum weapons and/or recipes to make them out in the world. They're aren't endgame gear, just some of the strongest weapons in the first act. Nice to have early for stronger monsters, pretty unnecessary otherwise. Also the greatsword is insanely ugly

Yeah I goofed around in the casino a bit, but figured there would probably be a better casino later on and all this gear would be outclassed so I just bought what I could with what I had and left with like 10k tokens in the bank
