It's pretty clear to me that he linked the image as a dogwhistle to his followers to distribute as legitimate. Otherwise why would you do it at all? If that fiction were to take hold it'd be beneficial for him, so it's not like he was mad about it, and it doesn't appear to have any other major distribution channels. Pretending to be dumbfounded is just a cover story intended to get him out of being punished for distributing malicious election materials. A cover story that didn't work out so good, obviously.

Americans don't really eat that stuff like, day to day. There's a certain level of dude who does keep the Jimmy Dean pancake corndogs around but most of us are repulsed by that guy. It'd be like bungee jumping out of a plane to get to work every day. We'll eat some hosed up poo poo but it's mostly to prove how free we are than we actually enjoy that kind of food.
