I was watching it on TV at my parents place, and my dad walked in while they were in Lebanon, and he told the story about the car bombing. I always wanted to learn the Forth programming language but I never really had to. I was browsing through the Folkscanomy Computer: Books on Computers and Programming collection on archive.org and found this book with a slightly cover trying to make Forth sexy? :germany: (doesn't exist, but should probably involve boobs)

If you told me back in the 80s there will be a well respected series of guides would have creepy animals on it, I would say the same thing. Found my atari lynx, and it's totally hosed batteries from long ago totally swollen up in there, oh well I actually don't know where the game carts are, somehow the manuals survived but not the carts.

Those batteries with the built in tester that always said the battery was good no matter how dead it was were fun as hell.

You can still brush the battery crap out, then hit the contacts with vinegar, right?

I still have my old GBA SP and like a fistfull of games I got on super discount when all the game stores were liquidating their stocks that I never got to play. I should charge it up for old times sake. Trip report soon, plus a few photos of my own tech relics I need to migrate from my phone.

Yeah, there are a lot of tutorials for getting old battery acid out of eletronics. Short version: mixing baking soda and a little water into a paste plus an old toothbrush does wonders. Ok so I moved recently and packed away a lot of my old eletronics. Which is why, coincidentally, I knew exactly where to find my old GBA. It also had a minute's charge left despite being untouched for years. But now it has a bit of dust caught underneath the screen. I thought it was a dead pixel. It's driving me crazy, but I'm afraid to open it up for fear of killing it. I also brought my old Commodore 64 with me. Mmm, love that malaise-era grey/brown color. Hides the ubiquitous cigarette smoke stains well.

After 35 or so years, though, the disk drive won't settle down after being switched on so I can actually load anything. The cartridge slots still work, meaning that Moon Patrol is still a go. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uY2LewqmGeU

I bought a Nintendo Game Boy Advance SP portable computer system because I was going on a trip and it sucks major rear end because the buttons are so close together. I don't even have big hands or anything. It's just extremely uncomfortable for an adult to play anything on. I guess the designers might have been trying to tell us something?!?!?
