I've watched a bunch of the mst movies sans mst at some point cause a lot are super bizarre and lovely and the riffing gets in the way more than it adds to me.

That fight's a really clumsy slugfest cause it's happening in real life. I just rewatched it and was actually super invested even without the full context, that part rules. I haven't seen much of the third arc, but if this latest season is roughly as good as the first one I'd gladly jump in again.

also watching weirdly made/written shows with friends is fine and enjoyable but i feel like its more interesting/fun to think about and talk about what the writers/animators/whatever were probably trying to do and the areas where they succeed and stuff like that than it is to go 'heh this is is SO bad' for *checks notes* 52 episodes

IIRC didn't School Days take multiple endings and string them together to make an interesting combo ending? I thought that was kinda nifty thing to do for an anime adaptation, at least.

Nah, that's not actually that uncommon (see Mari Okada's FSN, Tsukihime (lol), arguably Clannad, Kanon (both versions), etc.) As far as adapting a straight up bad end, even as a bonus material of some kind, I'm drawing a blank here. Mind you, that doesn't mean that School Days is anything more then a terrible, overlong hentai OVA without an actual porn.

I went through the list and ended up with a bunch of shows that I'm at least remotely interested in, but no real must-sees. I'll probably end up dropping 3 or 4 shows based on the first couple of episodes. In approximate order from most hype to least hype: Irozuku Sekai no Ashita kara Bloom Into You Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru Sora to Umi no Aida Release The Spyce Gaikotsu Shotenin Honda-san Zombieland Saga Double Decker! Doug & Kirill Toaru Majutsu no Index III Tsurune: Kazemai Koukou Kyuudoubu Also season 3 of Attack on Titan, and various OVAs.

Free! just ended and not sure how I feel about waiting until 2020. By then I'd forget all the details from the last season...and so the cycle will continue. Overall impression that it was OK. Nothing amazing but decent S3.

It's a fairly trashy game in terms of plot, but with the sheer number of stupid choices you can make, and the horrific consequences that result, it's one of the more interesting B-listers I've played. Oh yeah, for stuff that's actually relevant to the thread, I'm gonna finally check out Thunderbolt Fantasy. Urobuchi always seems to hit the notes I like.

IMO if it entertains then it's good. There's a lot of anime out there that are just boilerplate nothings and completely uninteresting, so while I see what you're going for I just wouldn't call SAO bad. Though now that I think of it I'm struggling to think of an anime that I found to be straight up poo poo so maybe I'm the freak here.

Currently, out of the 20 "Mainline" SAO novels available in Japan, it lasted from volumes 9 to 18. That's half of the current publication life of this series. The Alicization anime that's scheduled to start airing in 9 days will supposedly cover all of it through a 48-to-52 episode, 4-cour "odd/even" season schema (i.e. You get to watch Kirito's adventures on a weekly basis through October-December, but you get to rest on January-March and so on, or at least that's what we know).

I honestly don't think she wants anything to do with anybody except the grenade-launching enthusiast, hence the quote around "harem", (spoilers for the show) since she's sorta stuck with the crazy idol and the idol's stalker.
