Yeah. He'd started off just IDing munitions in Syria - stuff like bombs based on fragments and serials. Then he got into substantiating and locating things like Assad torture camps and sites of mass executions based on comparing the background imagery to satellite imagery (trees here, building there, angle and estimated distance puts it *here* and voila later satellite imagery shows a line of bloodstains on a runway) and after that he started hunting down russian shitbirds posting on VK from inside Ukraine and Syria. It's easy to make jokes about internet detective work but the guy made a name for himself being hilariously good and thorough at it and now goes around giving speeches on how to shed light on war crimes using Google maps and stuff.
