QR codes for WiFi networks are the only use I’ve found for them. Point the iOS camera at them, done.

I've come across a usage of these things in the wild: a bus company where I live has added QR codes to their tickets. Whether you're using the mobile app or have bought a physical daily/weekly/monthly ticket, it just has a QR code on it that is scanned when you get on. They also take NFC payments but not everyone is going to have a phone capable of NFC I guess, they've all got screens.

Boarding passes are all qr codes these days. Configuring authentication apps is done with a QR code quite often.

loving printers... We got a brand new, quite expensive, HP MFP at our corp office. I got it setup, only for it to screw up later that day. For some reason the printer decided that all paper loaded into the supply trays was A4 sized. I couldn't even manually as the only available option for paper size was A4! It didn't matter that the print job/computer was set to use Letter, the printer tried to print as if it was A4 sized and thus cut the top off every document. This is a problem seeing as we are in the US and use Letter size! While waiting on the vendor and HP to respond to my ticket, I tried factory reset, which didn't work. Then I ended up digging up a service manual on some dark corner of the Internet and found out how to get into a pre-boot menu. The pre-boot menu let me perform a "out of box reset". Which solved the problem.

Zil posted:Well yeah if you want to be a square about it and do actual reporting. If they're audited by an outside firm, it's a great way to make the audit cost a shitload more money. "Yeah, these guys LOVE to change poo poo in the database to re-record sales and modify dates of sales for random revenue recognition purposes. You might wanna do some real close scrutiny of it and the associated controls, because this would be something very material to the issued financials." That right there will make most audit firm's buttholes pucker, and making SURE they got the right opinion takes a lot more time, and thus a lot more money.

Me - "So why are you calling me?" - "I don't know" Me- "I'm going back to bed" I cannot wait to

Had tried to push to get one at the last place I worked but everyone balked at the price. Instead it was deemed cheaper to have support calls take 15-30 minutes longer to walk someone through setting up a Citrix GoToMeeting session, our users were not tech savvy.
