Fancy_Breakfast posted:That sounds fatal. The "alignment" that the nuclei experience has to do with the complicated physics of nuclei and their spin state, it doesn't like physically align the molecules by moving them around. The nuclear spin state of your atoms is on a very different time and physical scale than the biochemical interactions making you live. Looking at the signals from the changes induced can identify types of atoms and bonds, basically.

Think of it this way: there's a field right now that's exerting force on every single atom in your body, pushing all of them around. It's called gravity. A MRI machine, by comparison, can't even move your atoms. Just make them rotate or flip back and forth. And the atoms that actually do want to move from a magnetic field are held in place by all the rest of the atoms around them. Just like how your feet are perfectly adequate at stopping gravity from collapsing you into a pile of goo on the floor.

I have a degenerative back condition that required surgery a few years ago. I was sent for a CT ahead of the surgery and went to see my neurosurgeon for a pre-op appointment. Him: Why did you get a CT done? You had an MRI 3 months ago. Me: Your office sent me to get one. Him: Well, that was a waste. The MRI is fine. Me remembering how they warned me the CT raised my lifetime risk of cancer like 1.5%: Okay. At least insurance paid for all of it. Him: Good. Nice imaging, though. I will say this, having had a bunch of MRIs from various hockey injuries and things, the CT is paradise considering it takes like 3 minutes total vs 45-ish trying to sit completely still for the MRI.

Oh I get it, but unfortunately they're not completely interchangeable. "Funny" part is MRI's are usually a poo poo ton costlier so Hospitals like to use the because money. But if it's a soft tissue thing they are worth it...I guess. My comment about other options definitely wasn't geared toward an MRI, we built those too! My best advise is to never leave your house. Yeah a CT is basically an ex-ray(see radiation) on steroids. An MRI, as the name implies, involves magnetic fields and radio waves, which apparently are quite noisy at large doses. schmug fucked around with this message at 18:57 on Sep 27, 2018 |

The bridge height, marked on signs, was 3.4m which incidentally is the bridge height that I feared the most when I drove a delivery truck because it was also the registered height of my vehicle. Whether it would fit depended on a plethora of variables like my tires and cargo and the evenness of the pavement. The only way to know would be to test it real slow. I wouldn't take the risk. Here it looks like the truck fit under the old stone bridge deck but then bumped into the new bridge's structures. It may have been an old tried and trusted route that to the driver's surprise wasn't anymore.

You can see it's smoke as it rolls off the table edge. You would generally expect your angle grinder to spin without completely melting, yes. The speed at which it is designed to spin is when it is like this, without load. HF's electric poo poo is just that, poo poo. Not made well with no QA, so sometimes you get this. There's also probably someone out there with this same make and model of grinder that has been working fine for a long time, it's just a real crapshoot.

Those grinders cost literally , by the way. They have their place, but only the truly desperate would use a Harbor Freight grinding or cutting disc.

POOL IS CLOSED posted:Sooo how OSHA is not having flashback arrestors on the tubes for an oxygen - acetylene welding setup? People used oxyacetylene rigs for a hundred years or more without flashback arrestors and only occasionally killed themselves horribly, so you're probably okay, just make sure you purge both lines before lighting the torch and kill the torch by turning off the oxygen first. BUT. Flashback arrestors are cheap, go buy one now. Turn that "occasionally" into a "never" today. If you want real oxyacetylene OSHA, go look up acetylene generators, which work by dumping calcium carbide into water. Real easy to splatter yourself with one of those.
