Like if you think that Labour is going to get in and be able to actually do anything with the first term other than make even more cuts to satisfy creditors who are going to care all of a sudden that Britain's debt is nearly level with its GDP while it tries to fix the completely hosed post-brexit industrial supply chains (meaning kowtowing to EU state aid law and so on), you are going to be disappointed. However, if you don't vote for them it's going to be 200% five years down the line and there's going to be even less of a public sector to try to save, so do it.

Er so long as there is any deficit the total debt is going to increase, that's how finance works. It's not specifically part of their evil plan which was to just defund and privatise everything they could while pretending the deficit was important.

Even Blair was made to reduce the debt and let's not forget put the BoE at arms' length by absolutely psychopathic post USSR collapse Capital before Labour were considered unsuspicious enough to lend money to in the early-mid 2000s. Really got to hand it to the soft left. Finding reasons to already capitulate.

Labour have been more ambitious since but the 2017 manifesto required lots of public borrowing to pay to invest in stuff and that's hard to do when nobody will lend to you whether or not it's your fault. It's amazing that the Tories have the reputation as good for business and the economy when theyre in the process of destroying both

Brexit is inevitable, you guys really should just lean into it. Fortress Britannia, all borders closed for a century. Nothing gets in or out. A fully self-sufficient Britain. No more Americans stealing your best actors, no more foreign chefs trying to make you eat food with flavor, just Britain, proud and true.

Without Britain's naval and air power it would be trivial to cross the Channel and stage an invasion of the rest from Dover. Britain needs resources from elsewhere to maintain that wall of ships, though. "Fortress Britannia" can't really happen.
