Dr. Gitmo Moneyson posted:As entertaining as stories like these are (and as much as Cruz deserves it), it bothers me a bit that our present political climate is such that stories about candidates from their high school/college days are now considered fair game in an election. I think everybody has embarassing stuff from that period of their lives that they’d prefer the public not know about. I may have been a weird loser but I never said someone's mother was a whore because she had an abortion.

Also stories from youth have always been fair game

If I moved across county lines (FtBend to Harris) between the primary and this upcoming election, do I need to re-register in my new county? I have heard that I have to stay registered, and vote, where I did for the primary from a few people, but they couldn't remember where they saw that. The Secretary of State's website seems to say that I have to re-register but that I will be put on something called a "Limited Ballot", but it does not specifically mention this situation. Does anyone know where I could get a concrete answer on this?

Think any change of address requires a new/updated registration.
|

All change of addresses must be updated. Since you crossed county lines you need to just submit an entirely new registration, rather than an update of address which can be done online.

You will need to fill out a new form and check the change of address block. If not turned in within the next couple days it might not take effect for Nov. Your county should have an election office that you can deliver it in person.

The Army Corps of Engineers is set to present their plan for coastal protection for the Houston region next week - this is pretty exciting stuff as they are planning an ~$20bn project - maybe the Ike Dike/Coastal Spine will actually be built. https://www.texastribune.org/2018/10/03/army-corps-set-propose-hurricane-protection-plan-houston/

Dinesh D'souza is coming to A&M on the 17th so I'm fixing on protesting, and my tweeting about protesting led to perhaps the most obvious fed honeypot sliding into my dms. https://twitter.com/AutonomousTAMU/status/1046797093569007618 What is up, fellow anarchists? So what was the deal with the powder that got sent to Cruz's office? It reportedly turned out to not be hazardous but 2 people were still sent to the hospital because they felt ill?

Saw a Cruz sign in Montrose yesterday, it was very odd. Also over a dozen Beto signs on the same street.

Montrose continues to look less and less like the Montrose everyone pictures in their head every day, so that doesn't surprise me. I haven't lived there since a few years ago and even then I wouldn't have been surprised seeing an errant Cruz sign.

Zil posted:Because Beto asked him not to. exactly. Asking someone not to endorse you and declining someone's endorsement are different things. Hence my point about the tweet being deceptive. Obama and Beto or their someone on their staffs likely discussed this in private and decided this was the best way to go based off internal polling
