God's of Economy

I hope some shmuck takes over the island by the late 00's.

This mission requires a bunch of building, and being a housing mogul, I go with developer, cheapskate and bureaucrat to drop housing prices, constructor for faster building and elected for family values to help with tourism.

Welcome to Isla Divina, my god this island is freaking HUGE. Like an xbox

Lot of space is right, maybe its the mountainous areas making the island look bigger, but lord this map is big.

I get ready to build our houses, setting up a garage so constructor workers can get back to the office faster. Houses cost 2k at base value, we're paying around 1k to throw down a blueprint. Even quick building will get us our money back and then some.

drat, free tourism housing? Thats pretty solid, but tourism wont be how we make our money. Still, it would behoove us to lay down some tourist stuff, after all we'll need jobs for all the people living in our houses.

Money doesn't get paid out as each house is built, at the start of each month any houses you built are paid out all at once. And just like that, 10k for just building 2 houses. Who needs exports?

I get the city layout ready, around the trees is solid fertility for farms so I plan to move them over. I also throw down a second construction office.

Whats that, even MORE money?! We could quick build our 30 houses, cause again we will still make a solid profit (quick building doubles whatever you paid, not the base price.), but I want bigger returns and those construction workers need to do some work for a change.

I throw down a cement factory, 2 actually as I wanted to quick build one, and I can't quick build the freebie.

Just look at all that housing! I drop the rent to 2 pesos (and raise minimum wage to 6) so everyone will move into them.

And by god if they don't want to move in on their own I'll give them no other option :argh:

I would use the emote with the emoji throwing money in the air but we have like 200 loving emotes and the emote must have some stupid "witty" name cause ctrl + f searching for: Money, dolla, bucks, bux, dinero, cash, throw, ballin, meirl and tax refund didn't find it.

Here is the city as it stands, and we are nearing the time limit for the extra 30k so I just quick build the remaining houses.

Oh lord, 11k and besides the discounts from our traits and background, we can use the USSR aid edict to further drop the prices of apartments.

Too late Penultimo.

Working on moving the farms away from the houses.

And hey, maybe there was another reason I had a second cement factory up. I'm sure this stacks with the bonus cement factories themselves give.

It begins

Welcome to the gimmick that pissed me off so much I had to restart this mission twice and vented about it online.

You do not want to piss off the volcano god, because the entire island minus this very small part here is in the volcano danger zone. When that part shows up? Drain your coffers, immediately. No seriously, drain them.

The game seems to queue up disasters, so at first I thought "ok one eruption, every 3 months, no problem". Then the game just went into back to back eruptions and earthquakes, to the point where even after I dropped my money to near 0 I was still getting hit with the loving things over and over. Disasters can last for a month or more, so while I was thinking I'd be safe for another 2 months, the game already queued up another one to smack me with.

Also jesus christ what. I'm sure this is supposed to happen this mission, as I got this huge migrant wave on my other attempts.

In other news, annoyingly the elevation for 40 MW wind turbines is alllll the way out here, by the volcano even. You might barely see the town on the left side, had to quick build a bunch of transformers.

All those shacks, you guys can't have shacks next to jobs that are unfilled and housing is available! I believe I activate free housing at this point.

Oh jeeze, this would be the one time I would want her to "misplace" financial aid to the island. Every January we will receive 10k, so keep that in mind lest you piss off the volcano god.

I got very intimate with these helicopters this mission, as a bonus they use up cash! I mean, you COULD just throw down a bunch of blueprints and forbid construction, but thats cheating and shame on you for thinking about it :colbert:

Also its neat that they get their own designation. Also also lol 69

ooooooooh, I hate you Hoof. You're the worst. My first run of this also had this pop up before I managed to quick build my transformers to bring the wind turbine power back to the city. That may have influenced me to restart...

But hey, good thing we get free hotels now!

Building up another neighborhood block, still haven't made any progress on the apartments. How ironic that now the cheaper housing buildings is biting me in the rear end and now I fear the 11k per apartment payouts.

Welp here is a way to get some money out of the treasury. I guess you can also cheat and spam this over and over :colbert:

Also gently caress it, buy a yacht. Literally have no other attractions built, builders are too busy rebuilding stuff destroyed by the volcano god.

So what is our ROI on building apartments? Like over a thousand percent?

SERIOUSLY?! This is what I mean by queueing up disasters, I think its less "have 50k over 3 months in a row" and just "have 50k for 3 months total".

At this point I throw down a fire department. We are absolutely starved for high school jobs currently, the drat high school keeps catching on fire.

Oh is that all?

Well, we get a full set of fire fighters, we also get to drain the coffers some. Win win.

Annoyingly, substations are catching on fire and I'm not seeing them and sending the choppers in. I pretty much save my quick build nails for these.

Really? REALLY? 26 over?!

You wanna know who is really getting angry? The LPer. I wont lie, I was about ready to give up on this mission.

The city, thus far. Don't know why I built that bank, stuff being cheap is currently a big problem.

Sucks that I can't even spam hotels to reduce the treasury, cause they're free! I'm trying to cater to the rich tourists since their attractions are the priciest. Of course this has the issue of bringing in even more money....

Where is a JRPG protagonist to kill some gods when you need them? Also anyone know what the "from Austria" thing is about?

So... I hired fire fighters from overseas to work here. And they all quit. I really don't have a bunch of high school jobs on the island, where else are they going? The factory that has less work satisfaction?

Urg, and this one we can't even attempt to prevent.

For the new year I give my citizens a nuclear power plant, with the expensive imports to help drain the coffers this will give me some breathing room. Also I wont have to keep an eye out for the transformers from the wind turbines.

God you know what gently caress it

I just rush all the apartments, the longer I wait the more frustrating it got.

Yay, more housing.100 whole buildings, thats crazy. Especially since we need to rely on construction workers to build most of them since we can't just quick build spam.

And who wouldn't want to live here, the island getting hit by like 6 tornadoes at once?

QUIT GIVING ME MONEY

May as well, I throw a fire station by the farms and another by the tourist area. Of course they'll be understaffed...

Fffffffffffffffuuuuuu

uuuuuuuuccckkkkk you Hoof!

gently caress it, more bribes! In fact I should've just mass bribed the entire island to use up the money. And god dammit, you know what would've been a great move? Using the bank to transfer funds into the swiss account. Why the gently caress did I not think of that.

I never thought I'd complain about having too much money.

Alright, first lets blow up all these buildings in this block. Just trust me.

And there we go, what better way to drain the coffers then putting a bunch of condos up? All the electricity from the nuclear plant has to go somewhere after all!

Kinda weird that the game will give us a message about earning nothing from condos. I guess it does a flat "check all housing, if any apartments or houses give money" and when none of those were built it gives us 0.

Here, have a mall. With its expensive imports and the fact its a near drain on the economy it should help keep the cash lower.

Whhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaattttt :psyduck:

GET OUT OF MY ISLAND

At this point I go gently caress it, if any sort of housing works I throw bunkhouses down everywhere.

I'm trying it all, art houses, gourmet restaurants, marinas, just spend all that I can.

I even made a statue of Jesus! I climbed above 60k and threw this guy down just to get rid of the money.

More houses :byodood:

How the gently caress do we have homeless people with 107 open, completely free, housing?! But at last, I did it.

The tourist area at the end.

A farm area just to try and get more jobs out

One view of the city and its great bunkhouse ghetto.

The other side with the condos and houses.

That first sentence? Me. Irl. This mission is rated among the lowest in difficulty at 134%, but gently caress that, its wrong. This was one of the more painful missions I had to deal with.

"This may have been a mistake."
That set of traits (or close to it) is probably my favorite and the most overpowered set of traits in the game. I think building discounts cap out at 90%, so once you get banks online you're literally quick building buildings for 20% of the base price. You can get the housing discount super early and put up apartments for $500 within the first year! Since almost all mission objectives are basically "Build X of Y," massive discounts to doing so make the game a bit of a breeze.

Its kinda like the mission with the UN inspectors who would take a cut of your treasury every year, so you would want to 0 out the treasury as much as you can so they take as little as possible.

War on Terror

Heeeey, this mission starts in 1974, terrorism didn't exist yet! Nor did clickbait, I'm finding it difficult to suspend my disbelief for this game.

Going with Leftist Author as the background cause it was the closest thing it had for an article writer, of course Propoganda Specialist and PR Specialist for the whole free media thing, coward cause he'll flee as soon as he gets called out. Rise to power didn't really have anything proper so I just defaulted to heir apparent.

Welcome back to Piedra Island, its been a while hasn't it? Oh god, given what the last DLC mission was, and we're back to this island I'm starting to have a PTSD episode. We start with a ministry and police station already built. May wanna hold off on hiring the token foreign relations minister....

About a month after the start our Ministry is blown up. Pretty worrying that something was blown up so close to palace.

This mission starts us off with 30k instead of the usual 20k, so I throw the 4k needed to fix it up, THEN I hire the usual foreign relations minister.

Well gently caress, this is a hard choice. I pick option 2.

Meanwhile I set up a memorial square for the lives we lost in the ministry bombing. All those ministers, gone. All 0 of them.

Here comes the boat, gonna take advantage of our green terrorist level and get a sweet sweet 10% cash bonus.

Oh right, its the first year and generally you don't have anything to export, unless you quick build a mine or lumber yard. Thats fine, maybe next ye

Welp, so much for that. At least we get a solid chunk of change out of it, and we didn't even have to be coerced by the US to join!

Gonna put that terrorist fighting money to good use by buying a solar plant :v:

I wouldn't have minded this, cause I mean, lol tourism. But stating that Tropico can be defeated by anything? That will not stand, that shall not stand at all good sir.

Our 3 paths this mission, going military would have us turn that nearby colonial fort into a prison, enact martial law and kill 10 people.

Police would have us build a secret police HQ, arrest 10 people and enact police state.

However, we have chosen civic, a counter to the last map's decision to kill for higher canned food prices.

Ha, this is clearly fake news. We don't even HAVE a hundred citizens, let alone hundreds :smugbert:

Gonna rework the city a bit, that bio farm is in a pretty bad spot as half of it is in a yellow zone for corn. Corn! That stuff grows everywhere!

Our first mission on the civic path is doing early elections. Simple enough, you don't even have to win! Well I mean yeah you do have to win or its game over, but right after popping the edict you get the clue.

Hmm... we gotta think carefully about this. Can't make this decision ligh- wait "Father Esteban because I don't like him"? Ahahahaha, thats loving golden

I like that he mentions that his witness is the lord, and not Penultimo. Now, what would happen if we didn't blame anyone?

Oh. Well I think pissing off the religious folks who are usually pissy anyways is worth getting a few extra grand a year. Also I googled 138 countries and all google it telling me about is US special forces being deployed and how there is 138 countries you can visit without a visa, don't know if that is supposed to be the joke or not.

Oh I should mention that Mr. Pynch has an Aussie accent. Also I think "Unanimous" is supposed to be "Anonymous". Also we need to check administration staff for a Mr. Enultimo and throw him in the gulag.

You know, there are a bunch of shacks nearby the exploding station... maybe the homeless are in on it!

drat anthrax scare, no palace guards, no teachers, no shopkeeps for the childhood museum. Hired some teachers to get things going.

Sunny Flowers: We would like to apologize to all our listeners for reporting false data. El Presidente has in fact won the election, not lost them

Penultimo: I would like to apologize to all citizens that were executed by mistake because of these incorrect early results.

Even TNT is full of fake news!

Interesting note, biofarms don't have farm plots like traditional farms do, instead they just get a flat 50% reduction during droughts.

Next mission, building 3 media buildings. I almost lost the election actually, 38 to 21 (which is why I think the "Presidente actually won" radio line went off), time to use the "each journalists convince 2 citizens to vote for you" effect!

The Argentina Junta is in effect which gives us prisoners at the start of each year. Nothing as fun as seeing a bunch of criminals move into the apartment next door.

Lets just nip this in the bud. Now if only people would get an education :byodood:

Seriously, 14 of them.

Got the newspaper up, printing out nationalist newspapers. Tropico needs to stand united against the terrorist threat!

While I wait for money to come in, we can start the last mission for the civic path. Yay, the stock exchange. I'm so happy to build this thing again :geno:

Got the TV station up, building my apartments around it to ensure everyone gets double learning.

Throwing down some bunkhouses for students, trying to get rid of all these shacks.

City lookin good, finally got enough money to put up an eternal flame in memorium of our first ministry.

And radio station thrown down, may as well get all the different media centers down. Radio station right next to the fire department, would probably make those token, horrifically unfunny morning radio shows more entertaining if the hack hosts were constantly being interrupted by sirens.

Another important choice, hm... You know we never DO see whats under Salim's scarf. He must be hiding something.

drat, even when he is throwing sick burns at you he will still continue to call you his friend.

What if... what if we didn't pick anyone? The US can't get pissed off twice, right?

Oh, its the USSR. I think getting a few grand each year is better then oil export prices we'll never get to take advantage of as there is crap for oil on the island.

Forgot to mention this, but when we accused Esteban we now have the "He isn't a terrorist!" modifier for the religious faction.

Starting later in the years, metro stations weren't too far off. Building the industry by the docks, I WAS thinking of building a cannery for the fish from the oyster farm and pineapples and coffee from the bio farms. But our citizens may not want to be reminded of the diablo boyardee so soon.

City is coming along nicely, put up a business center as I'm having an employment problem.

Alright, lets see what the AI is gonna try and throw at us!

..... loving really Russia? Why would I want to bring in tenements that will have even lower housing quality and get no rent from it? That night club though is pretty solid, assuming the AI doesn't set the entry fee hella high so no one visits and wont turn a profit.

Gonna put that right across from the metro station. Now after a hard day of work you can take the train straight to the party! Or vice versa.

Ehh, no real winners. I'll go with biofarm just to get some extra jobs that I don't have to deal with.

Pfft, nuclear power

Still struggling with unemployment, so there. Now even you dummies can get high school jobs!

My god, declaring war on terror, lowering education standards so that any moron can get a diploma, substandard wages for workers? Tropico is starting to become America!

Well that oil well will be utterly useless as there is not a single land source of oil on the island, the only 2 deposits are in the ocean. I go with cigar factory cause we at least produce tobacco.

Of course, staffing is still a problem. Who doesn't want to work in an amazing Tropico factory?!

9 wages, thats lower then the default. And people make fun of me for not paying industry workers enough :v:

I go with option 3 as it addresses all 3 clues provided, clearly the first 2 are wrong as they only include ONE of the three clues provided.

What the gently caress El Diablo is in the modern times campaign :supaburn: With voiced lines even! They're still done by a different voice actor, like most of the other characters (Esteban really sounded like Rodriguez this mission, which is impressive cause Rodriguez doesn't like Rodriguez)

Seems like the Nationalists aren't quite as upset as the Religious faction was with us accusing their leader of being a terrorist, there is no exclamation mark!

Alright now that we got our tip time to blow up this factory. Also I blow up the stock exchange.

Pffft, sanctions. Like sanctions actually DO anything. That isn't just me being smarmy about current political events, we aren't actually importing anything in game right now.

72k, in a Modern Times economy?! Well actually this was a pretty sizable chunk of change, I may have gone a bit crazy building the city up and don't have millions in the treasury. But thats ok, just means I don't need to build anything while I wait for the money to build back up.

As shown. Got that bank up just to offset the increased building costs from when Pynch raised our level to red.

Sunny Flowers: Hola, Tropicans! Space Station MRI reached its geostationary orbit 57 minutes ago! We are witnessing the expansion of the human frontier!

Penultimo: Our leader was, of course, of crucial importance to the success of the project.

Sunny Flowers: By not interfering with it in any way? I see.

Sheesh Sunny, you make one island a police state and suddenly you get dissed live on air.

Ahahaha, this is a hilarious plan. I guess Pynch is one of those soulless autograph signers who just sign whatever without a care.

Got the factory up... and man, hope it finishes soon. Because if we do go under embargo getting iron is gonna be a pain cause this island doesn't have any good deposits of ore, just a bunch of weak deposits spread all over the place.

Come oooooonnnnnn, I swear there will be dock workers shot in the street if they decide to hit the bar!

I learned that Drongos are a type of bird, along with an Australian insult. Wait, nuclear countdown? I thought it was just an embargo?

Also who bombed us then?

We may get that answer next time, for now, enjoy our fertile crescent. The lower biofarm is the stock exchange one, in a low fertile area. Thats just capitalism, shoulda given me a higher yearly rent!

One side of the city hub, and huh looks like I didn't blow up the stock exchange after all.

The cross pattern for the apartments.. well, its functional, but man my OCD is going nuts with the empty space at the corners.

And finally our humble industry area. That chemical factory was useless, no one worked there!

Victory! It might be a good thing we have a new foe, whenever we don't thats when Tropico falls apart. I mean sure, Presidente goes on vacation and lets Penultimo take over and poo poo hits the fan, but I don't see any connection to those events.

Presidente Vs Zombies

Remember that guy who made a thread advertising his Plants Vs Zombies knock off game?

Its weird that they put in a farmer's hat, but not a farmer outfit. In my fantasies I'm lifted off my feet by a shirtless, muscular farmer so this works fine for me. Communist rebellion increases farmer output, plantador also increases the output. I grab green thumb cause why not, and I pick klepto as the negative trait because buff farm Presidente stole my heart <3~~

Farmer gives +10 respect to Communists and +50% farmer production and -10 respect with intellectuals

And thats it, every trait, background and rise to power has been used :toot:

Welcome back to Costa del Limbo, I hate where the bio farm is at now.

Now that we are besties Pynch commemorates the moment with a free power plant plus staff!

But.. not to be ungrateful but you'd save 2k just giving us the solar power plant, and thats not accounting for hiring the staff. Especially since we now start off with solar power plants unlocked!

So pro strats, build two fish oyster farms! Hey, it has "farm" in the title, it still counts for Presidente's background of being a farmer :v:

This is why you should throw down 2 fish oyster farms, as I don't see getting the 20k for both radio stations is possible. I built a borehole mine on a gold vein and I still couldn't comfortably get the stations up while also taking care of the citizens.

A nice bonus though, we don't have to pay for the blueprints after this mission pops up.

I throw down the power plant by the biofarm, the smog fallout will give the corn a better taste! Also whats that in the back, is that a road leading up the hill?

Time to get fancy, I really like the elevation difference here. There are 3 bauxite mines here but we don't need that. Real talk though, why is elevation in city builder games such a rare thing? I played Cities Skylines and every map is flat, a few had a single hill. Looking for custom maps and it was either all flatlands or crazy hilly terrain. I'm not creative enough to make my own hills dammit :argh:

So here we have a power plant that is currently unstaffed. And no I didn't take this screenshot right after it finished building, I waited 2 months.

Here is our college educated citizens, including 6 homeless college graduates. Most likely the 6 workers Pynch sent. C'mon game!

Still need to get the radio stations up. Again, oyster farms seem to be the only way to get the money needed cause everything else is simply too slow to build everything before the time elapses. Note that you don't HAVE to do these, but what LPer would I be if I didn't?

Like with the radio station, the blueprints for the TV station is waived. Also we actually make a profit off this, were the radio stations would just break even. If you had to give up one well...

This popped up on the timeline, guess its a good thing our background this mission is communist rebellion.

Finally work begins on the the hill, plopping down a garage and the first radio station. I really should've shoved it more to the center lane so its coverage isn't hitting the mountain I can't build on but eh.

Penultimo: I woke this morning and even my cat looked miserable. Dios mio e Todos los Santos! What is it with you people?!? It's much better to look stupid and always smile. It's good for the blood pressure and the chicas dig it!

Look guys, media is the future and ya'll will have to deal with praying in your shacks and drinking snake oil when you start coughing.

Second radio station up, seeing how my city ended up I shoulda put it on the other side of the road :spergin:

Penultimo is acting kinda weird.

.....

More then usual.

Pppfffttt, 1.2k? I throw that out from the palace balcony just for fun. This is a Modern Times economy!

Alright guys, you can't bitch about there being no churches and have Esteban on the radio talking about it AND NOT FINISH THAT LAST PIXEL!

Oh great, El Diablo too. I guess he and Penultimo were watching zombie movies.

..... Waaaaait a minute. El Diablo HATES the Chinese! And every other nationality! Something is up!

The China Development Aid edict costs 12k and brings us 100 Chinese immigrants. We can only do this once, it requires an immigration office and excellent relations with China. Its not bad if you got a population shortage...

I had a joke here about how its good that Pineapple is a zombie now because she stopped with the innuendo but then I saw "subconscious games, and not the interesting kind." Also radar dishes.

Both TV stations up. All those electronic media stations and only 2 apartments who'll actually listen and watch the broadcasts!

So... 2 of Pynch's employees are not here anymore and the plant is barely keeping up with the 4 stations so...

Thanks but no thanks Pynch. Half staffed and costing more for just the blueprint and the power plant can only provide 80% of what a base solar power plant can't provide.

Oh right.

If I were a person who holds a position in government I'd be wary about all the homeless people shacking up behind the ministry building. They wont have far to go when they want to uprise and take out the heads of government!

Pynch says low paid staff, but since business centers automatically adjust wages they're usually higher paid then the rest of the uneducated jobs. Also this is good timing, that'll give us jobs for at least 20% of the new citizens. This also gives a good bit of profit as the centers only cost 8k.

I quickly throw up 2 cash crop farms and a gold borehole mine to get some jobs going.

Oh this is a dick move. Hell last MT map had that anthrax attack which got rid of educated citizens. Makes setting up a school system a pain.

Oh god look at them all. At least the token humanitarian aid camp is still up and can feed them.

In the almanac we can see our citizens origins. Congrats to the 5 Chinese immigrants who managed to get a job!

So are all 100 of them Communists because of the Panama Canal treaty is still in effect or because they're from China :v:?

Man imagine being whoever is in charge of applications and this place opens up. 95 people desperate for a job comes flooding in.

I know if I was that guy I'd drop a single razor blade on the floor and say "fight for it!"

I'm so happy to finally be a part of the media empire :unsmith:

The pitiful amount we get reminds me of that one thing WB did a few years back. It was a contest where you pitched a movie idea, and if WB liked it you would get 100 bucks. If WB made a movie out of it you got another 100 bucks. But you also release every solitary right you had to that IP. Rich people are wack man.

So... with nearly 100 people coming in, all homeless and jobless, and I don't have many of the citizen's needs handled as I've been building expensive, time sensitive buildings well....

Yeeaaah... Time to pop Silence the Rebels.

Also thanks but no thanks Pynch. This is draining college brain power and its worthless.

Money shot of the city. Put a bunch of garages around to help with employment and making it faster for construction workers to drive back from building stuff.

And look at that, the shacks are drying up :unsmith:

And here is another money shot later. More apartments, water purification, movie theater!

Down here is a green spot for food crops so I throw down 2 biofarms down here. Its also deep green for pastures so I throw down some ranches. Don't forget the metro station, ensuring farmers and teamsters will not need to get on the road to show up.

Alright fine thats enough fun time to build these 5 things.

Sunny Flowers: Comrade Vasquez, what is the meaning of "Perestroika"?

Comrade Vasquez: "Perestroika" means to be honest about your mistakes, to speak openly to the government and to be true to your society. It is the new thing in the USSR, by which Communism will prevail in the world!

Sunny Flowers: Oh, great! Have you lied in the past? What mistakes did you make?

Comrade Vasquez: I am a true Communist, comrade. I do not lie. I do not make mistakes.

Sunny Flowers: I guess "perestroika" is the same old thing, then.

drat, Sunny laying down the burn. And its not to Presidente or Penultimo this time!

Oh right, we still had some rebels. Man those years just flew by.

Presidente is what the red arrow is pointing to on the right side of the hill. The mine on the left side is being attacked. Uh.. so what is your plan Presidente?

Oh, you're just gonna do some teleportation then! Thats neat.

Sadly Presidente didn't teleport the rest of the army with him, and he is soon routed.

THIS soldier however did teleport after Presidente ran off... Right into the raised guns of 3 rebels :saddowns:

While he didn't live, one of two soldiers who decides to run over here instead of teleporting shows up and takes out 2 of the rebels, but is routed by a rebel arriving onto the scene.

The other soldier who ran over successfully routs the final rebel. Good on ya man, lets see who the man of the hour is.

Oh hey, one of our Chinese immigrants! It is good to see he is willing to fight in the name of Presidente!

There fine your stupid radar dishes are up. I make sure to lock off the job slots.

Well, alright. Fine, I'll throw one up. Guess it'll supplement the solar power plant. What is with this mission and trying to pretend solar panel plants don't exist?

Stop calling me sweetie, it makes me think of a creepy overly friendly aunt who wants me to pick something up from the floor.

Oh god half the citizens are zombies. But they still do labor so... maybe not all that bad? You don't need to pay the dead, right?

Though their dietary needs might cause some problems...

New building time! The Modern Condominium under housing is discovered in 1985, costing 12k and needing 10mw of power along with a 6k blueprint. It houses double the people of a regular condominium at 8 families, and it has half the blueprint size. It starts with a base housing quality of 95, these are basically mansions. They cost 20 pesos a month, keeping them at the default 5 pesos will make you money on these. Or you can lower the rent to 3 pesos a month to house married uneducated citizens and still make a profit.

They have 1 upgrade, the doorman kiosk for 1k that makes the building not generate any time.

This isn't as bad as it sounds, honestly I wonder if it actually fired off properly as I still only had the 3 left over rebels from the last attack.

Meh, 7 zombies taking off. What can go wrong? Though at this point I go from having an unemployment problem to an employment problem.

Hey gently caress you Pynch! I build your media empire! I MADE YOU!

I even built this stupid thing to modernize Tropican media consumption! Meet the Telecom HQ, unlocked in 1986. It costs 15k and requires 50mw of power. This building has 3 work modes:

Customer Satisfaction increases housing a job satisfaction by 10 to everything within its range.

Cold Calling gives a 20% bonus to income for entertainment buildings

Phone Games generates revenue on people living in its range.

It has 1 upgrade, extending its ranges that can be done 3 times for 5k a pop. Thankfully this building actually shows where its range is, as opposed to literally every other building that doesn't. I stick with Phone Games, if I had more entertainment buildings up I would go with that instead.

Welp, shoulda sunk that ship carrying the 7 zombies. Also wasn't this the same island we were on when we were pretending to set up an invasion with this guy?

Nobody expects the zombie inquisition! Fine, you can have it, what can go wr-

Wait I thought this was supposed to burn zombies at the stake not recruit more people into the ranks of the dead!

Whoa, Sunny you play video games too? A girl who plays video games just like me, a nerd on the internet, and as such I am required to fall head over heels for you.

I think I preferred when El Diablo wasn't part of the story...

I hadn't put up a fire station yet because I couldn't figure out an optimal place to place it to get every building in its range for the +10 housing but... gently caress it. Throw it down somewhere!

My god the zombies are evolving. Imagine what can happen if they learn more! Whats that, fortify a building and wait out the horde? What do you do when zombies start tossing molotov cocktails at your shelter?

Oh c'mon, how is that gonna do anything? Its on the outer edge of the building, sure whatever is currently being stored is lost but the crops themselves are just fine.

Hm... build more apartments... or the rich gets it. I'll need to sit on this.

You know, I just realized she means the tourist building and NOT the horticulture station.

Oh well I built one anyways. Set it to increase corn crop yields. I wonder if that only increases the yield of farms explicitly set to produce corn or if it'll also boost the bonus corn crops from the other work modes.

Penultimo: The most luxurious and important building on our island was just renovated and now looks grander then ever!

Sunny Flowers: I kind of liked the old Palace better.

Penultimo: A glorious leader such as our El Presidente cannot live in a humble dwelling forever, Sunny.

Sunny Flowers: Humble? According to Miss Pineapple, the old Palace had 15 bedrooms?

Well yeah, Sunny, when I hide from assassins in the Palace they'll have to check under all 15 beds. *taps forehead* Thats thinking ahead.

Eat the rich! Literally!

Interesting death message. Was hoping for a custom one, I guess this is the catch all for mission related deaths.

And with that... end shot of the area around the palace. Destroyed the first biofarm as it was redundant, and removed that road.

Cash crops and the borehole drill dried up the deposit so I blew it up.

The middle class step of the city.

The upper class step of the city. I was gonna put a stadium here but all those farms took out the zombies way quicker then I expected.

The farms took them out so good that they proceeded to take out zombies that didn't even exist!

I drink, I kiss you. On mouth.

Pft, tv turning people into zombies? Good thing I basically stopped using a tv in the 2000s when computers were invented, no chance of being a zombie there.

Now excuse me, I got to raid for the next 12 hours.

Hmmmm, running an immigration office with the extra educated immigrants would be a good idea for the Chinese suckers new presidente supporters. Is there an event which makes all immigrants criminals? That would be fun.

I usually never get the media buildings because they cost too much. Mission plays out the exact same way. :v:

A, Presidente is the hippiest hippie who ever hippied. Hug all the trees, then give them voting rights.

B, the only plants El Presidente likes are power plants and he only genuinely likes trees when they've been refined into paper money.
