Something great I came across today. On the Amazon review for the Mastodon album Lifesblood, is this fantasic review: Which means somebody put that on expecting some Christian rock or whatever that is, and got this.

Mastodon have not released anything good for the past 12 years, except maybe crack the skye which was very inspired, but still not that good

Curl of the Burl is a cool riff, but that's about it.

Remission is cool but that’s about the last one I can get into.

I like Crack the Skye but only every once in awhile. Listened to it yesterday, for the first time in probably years, and had forgotten how good it actually was. Probably won't listen to it for a few more years now. The Hunter was alright, Once More Around the Sun was surprisingly fun and enjoyable, but I just can't get into their latest album.

I don’t like anything before Leviathan but every album since including that one is in my favorite albums of all time list. They’re one of those bands that I like everything about in their current combo of members. Kilometers Davis fucked around with this message at 12:02 on Oct 5, 2018 |

I really love Leviathan and Crack the Skye, but for me the rest all seem to have like, 1-3 good songs and that's it. Pretty sure I liked Remission better when it came out but that was 20 years ago and I guess I got old.

Are Coheed & Cambria allowed in here? Because the new album just dropped and it's got some good ideas but it's nowhere near the Afterman albums and I'm sad about that

New Behemoth today. I saw in their original press release that they said this was like no other record they've done. I know all bands always say this but I'm wondering if it's actually true. They have such a distinct sound and I'm listening now and don't think I can tell. Can anyone else share an opinion on if it actually is different?

I just started listening and it feels like the natural extension of ideas they were working with on The Satanist. I'm liking it so far and might actually drag my rear end out in November to see them when they come to SF again.

This record has been out for a while, but has anyone checked out the new Act of Impalement? https://actofimpalement.bandcamp.com/ Really enjoyed their previous EPs. They released their first full length and it rips. All throwback death metal cut with doom and punk.

I’m glad his music is so good because sometimes Nergal reminds me of myself a year into my teenage atheism. I actually like him a lot in interviews and all that. He just tries too hard. I can deal with it though since he makes everything so theatrical and over the top.
