looking over the chamber of deputies results for some fun facts about the brazilian party system:

there will be 30 parties in the next chamber

the most right wing party is the Social Liberal Party

the Social Democratic Party and the Brazilian Social Democracy Party are different. both are right wing

the Brazilian Labor Party is center right. the Democratic Labor Party is center left. these are separate from the Workers Party, which is left wing

there's a Republic Party, a Progressive Republican Party, and a Brazilian Republican Party. all three are right wing

there's also a Progressive Party. it's also right wing

also also there's a Republican Party of the Social Order. despite having possibly the most fascist party name I've ever heard, it was allied with the Workers Party in this election

there's the People's Socialist Party and the Brazilian Socialist Party. both of these are, at best, center right

there's Solidarity (center to center right) but also the Humanist Party of Solidarity (center right)

there is the Green Party which is, inexplicably, a green party

sadly lost this election was the Brazilian Women's Party, whose only senator was a man and had an explicitly antifeminist platform

Let me share a funny (and tragic) anecdote:

My friend's mother voted for Bolsonaro. My friend's brother is currently on the run because he's a drug addict and trafficker that tried to steal from his boss, so he's marked for death.

Friend's mother: Now all of these criminals and bums will be killed by the police, we will be safe again

Friend: Mom, you know that they'll kill brother right?

Friend's Mother: Of course not, your brother is small fry, they'll go for the big ones now

And now there's one more face ready to be eaten by leopards.

Fascism usually just ends with everyone slaughtering each other. Then everyone talks about how terrible it was, work to avoid it for several decades, then give up and go right back to it because they forgot about the whole slaughter part.

I mentioned this in therapy today:

Therapist: "Don't worry, no one wants to join up with Wilders"
Me: "Given all that's happening, how can you be so sure?"
Therapist: "...look, the point is that you are mentioning the CONTENT. What matters here is the PROCESS of dealing with it. Please write down which child mode is active for you right now"

It's times like this where I recall some "what is your darkest secret" AskReddit thread where the top result was a therapist admitting that he thought the best course of action for done of his patients was suicide but he could not admit it because of the Hippocratic Oath.

The amount of times my psychologist said, no one will join up with Wilders, he's just a flash in the pan and it's just words he's spouting while he absolutely explodes in the polls because he finds an easy scapegoat in the Jews Muslims and other marginalized groups and I'm just sitting there thinking; this has happened again and again, Hitler, Pinochet, Gadaffi and no one wants to learn from goddamn history. We learn for half a century and then start right back up again with the fascism and the strongarming leaders. It's sickening and depressing which turns my head even further because depression is not an activator.

I know he is, but I'm a lefty so I'm already a giant cuck. And I don't particularly want to kill anyone but myself, but if I find a way to help the cause before I go I'll definitely do that. But as I said depression is not a motivator at least for me. I'm basically this lethargically beached whale at the moment.

However, as always there are people going this should spur the left into action and, he's not going to win, he's going to get stopped in the second round. When the fact that he even got to the second round is the loving proof of the problem.

The constant contradicting statements between Bolsonaro and his VP are super scary. I feel like the VP is being a dumbass like Trump and giving away the game while Bolsonaro is keeping quiet until the election is over

Also bolsonaro got his VP's name wrong twice in one interview while talking about the contradictions
