When I built my GSC kill team I used the sector mechanicus 32mm bases since I think they look pretty cool but they are a bit big for the neophytes. Im considering picking up another box and was looking for 25mm bases that would look good with the sector mechanicus bases on the units I already have done. I was thinking the necromunda bases would be a good fit but I was curious if anyone here had suggestions for other bases that would pair well.

Got the hookup on a trade for a third assassin to complete the detachment this weekend. $15 worth of Shapeways DW storm bolters and a dollar for a Culexus assassin. GW employee discount is 50%, had no idea.

Does anyone run assassins at all? I'm making a 2000pt DW list right now that is bad, but interesting.

Watch Master and a jump captain, Beacon Angelis and undecided on Warlord trait

3x Kill Teams, one set up to drop in and melt everything short-range, another set up for a deep striking storm bolter barrage, and another with shotguns and a melta.

2x Corvus Blackstars to deliver the troops into the enemy's face or to important capture points

Venerable Dreadnought with lascannon

Chaplain Ven Dread with inferno cannon

1x Culexus
1x Vindicare
1x Eversor

134 points remaining. Unsure on what to field. Maybe Reivers with bolters to run around causing havoc, I dunno. Maybe another squad of Vets. Open to suggestion.

27 models in this list, so nothing could possibly go wrong

They can be in the same detachment (they’re all have the Chaos Nurgle keywords). However doing so will lose the benefits from having them in their own detachments - unless you summon in the Nurgle Daemons mid battle.

Farseer Asheriel of Craftworld Ibraesil completed at last.

Featuring my first attempt at sculpting hair with greenstuff. Result could've been a bit better but the paint job covered that up mostly.
Wanted to go crazier with the hair color but it probably would've clashed too much with the robes.

Going to shade the face a bit better and I really need to grab a better pot of Pallid Wych Flesh at some point. This is the third time I've gotten a rather chalky result from using it despite thinning it down pretty decently.

But otherwise I'm really pleased with the results.

A few pictures from our Monsters Only Apocalypse game organized TheChirurgeon - just to tease it while he does a more formal write-up.

Chaos and Necrons preparing for deployment.

My "Genestealer Cult" Tyranid/Imperium forces, separated by my wooden rolling trays/tokens from the hated Tau.

One friend recently dumped his Eldar army for Nurgle, and celebrated by grafting his spare GUO bits onto an unassembled Wraithknight.

Knight thowing up the horns reaches into a Tesseract Vault to squeeze the life out of the living god inside.

Originally my Genestealer team agreed to a truce with the Imperium to hunt the Necrons and Tau, who I have heavy grudges with from past games. Here the Nids are moving away from the Imperial corner...

...but ANAmal stabbed me in the back, so here my forces are wheeling in to fight his. You just barely can't see that my Knight, Meat Bull, is in combat with his. My Reaper Chainsword never landed a single hit. In return, his gun-armed Knight kicked nine wounds off Meat Bull and eventually killed him. Rest In Piss.

Surrounded by superheavies and vehicles, my swarm of "tiny" Carnifexes still put in real good work.

Including Old One Eye, who broke off on an ambitious hunt of his own.

Also, SOMEONE opened a beer and splattered my ceiling in a perfect finale to the evening.

Looking forward to seeing what TheChirurgeon writes up to immortalize this excellent event. Full credit to him as a fabulous organizer.

I actually think the hair looks great and the paint job on the robe is better than anything I've ever done!

The only thing I'd say is maybe consider using something sharp to gently point out the corner of his mouth a little. Iirc you filed down a helmet to make the head, and it kinda shows that his mouth looks smaller than it should be.

Though you could probably get a good effect with just shade when you do the next pass as you mentioned. Either way, I like it a lot! Eldar were my first wannabe army when I first started collecting, I think I'll make a kill team of them soon.

Nah I didn't go with that head in this but the one everyone got reminded of Elrond when I asked for suggestions a while ago.

In hindsight I should've bought one of the Dark Eldar heads when I had the chance to make that a bit more obvious.

The suggestion I got was to add some shade to the cheeks to make the cheekbones a bit more noticeable. Which I might try and see what happens.

Well it was 6 loving layers of white scar for me earlier. 2 to cover the celestra grey and 4 ultra thin layers so the finish was less terrible.

Ah nah my bad I think the Elrond head fits really well, especially how the hair seems to have really good flow with the robe.

She may well look more feminine after the cheekbone shade too. Just be sure to blend the contours :v

On a related note I spent about 2 or 3 hours trying to get a broodlords left eye looking right - I'm not sure if it was a dodgy sculpt/cast, or the metal got deformed or a lump of paint/glue got in there to obscure the eyelid but loving nothing worked. I was applying tiny dots of eye colour followed by messy rings of black ink pinwash for so long it felt like I was applying eyeshadow to a tiny, angry, multi armed metal alien. So many times thinking it was 'good enough' and putting it down but then picking it up 'just to fix it a bit' and loving it up completely.

Eventually said 'good enough' and meant it. Precisely 0 people will ever see or care about it as much as me anyway.

It is weird that it seems like they didn’t even try to tie them together by pimping the ork commander as sort of a bridge?

And it isn’t like this is a case of FW going off-book, this is all GW. I guess KT is “Specialist Games” but GW marketing presumably has final say over that sort of thing and must have okayed giving them a week in the middle of the previously-hyped Orktoberfest.

Just strange.

According to my FLGS, Kill Team has been an absolutely massive seller. Presumably GW has decided to run that train till the wheels fall off - which may be soon. Other than the buildings in the first box (which was a great deal), Kill Team has always been a cheat. A shiny new package on already existing models. It's not surprising that early stuff all sold incredibly well - while it was existing terrain it was very nice and a very good deal compared to the original price.

The Deathworld Forrest terrain expansion boxes, on the other hand, have been sitting in stock since it was launched. A lot of people hate those models, and GW has tried to get rid of it with combo boxes in the past. I actually don't mind it - but I agree it's a massive step down in quality from the mechanicus stuff.

The latest thing is taking single character models, putting them in a new box with a few exclusive rules. Maybe that'll work if people are really excited about "Kill Team" branded products. It's also possible it's going to flop as the reason the early stuff sold like crazy is that it was a good deal on great models.

Also, two expansions, with different rule books, in two months? The first expansion introducing characters alongside two new Kill Teams and indoor rules, the second expansion allowing... more characters? Not looking good.
