Well, Japan, remember; it's a contextual culture and language in which things like the closeness of relationships are implied, rather than outright stated as in English, with its literal hundreds of millions of words. The closeness of our group has pretty well already been implied in the story and the Confidant links, so using "friendship" would feel kinda redundant and may even smack of insincerity, if it were made so overt. This is the culture that gave us stories about detecting emotional depth from the way people clasp their hand and proclaim love with phrases like "The moon is beautiful tonight," after all. (Yes, that one classroom bit really is a thing.)

One thing we have to watch out for is that if we’re going for the “all crafted tools” trophy, we have to craft them all ourselves, no using Kawakami. This is an issue for two reasons: one: the parts for certain items like Reserve Ammo and the Eternal Lockpick here are scarce and you’re not likely to obtain enough to make more than one in a playthrough. The other, worse issue is that you can only craft the Eternal Lockpick once per playthrough. If you have Kawakami make it, you can’t get the trophy until New Game +.  Hilariously, though, the double craft procs here and we get TWO Eternal Lockpicks! I had just assumed that was impossible. We also make Stealthanol (reduces security level), Covertizer (greatly reduces security level), Smokescreen (renders us undetectable temporarily), Hypno Mist (puts nearby enemies to sleep), and Reserve Ammo (lets us restock our ammunition while in a Palace, the only way in the game besides a DLC accessory to do so!). The double craft procs on Reserve Ammo for me too, which is very lucky. We still don’t have the trophy, though, because while we have a few Goho-Ms that Morgana gave us at the beginning of the game, we haven’t crafted any ourselves yet. Oh well, we’ll get to that next time. Maaku gains Proficiency +3. Music: Beneath the Mask    It’s cool but weird that Kawakami can make Sojiro’s Master Curry and coffee without any training. I actually also got the double craft proc on the eternal lockpicks on my first playthrough, which had me worried that the EL was only a multi-use tool instead of unlimited-use. Don't know why they didn't bother flagging that item as un-proccable, but whatever.

"Step away from the ledge" gives me legitimate douche chills. What an incredibly tactless thing to say in that kinda situation. Also, the platonic dialogue for Ann is incredibly bad there. Disappointing stuff. I do genuinely really like Shiho, though. I wish we got to see more of her. If they ever do update this game I hope she gets a bigger role.

While I have... issues... with the way Shiho and her arc is handled in this game (beyond what Arist already elucidated, Shiho's description or the translation of the same of her suicidal tendency as "weakness" rankles me just a bit), it was nice to see her again. Shiho the idea is better than Shiho the execution.

Add me to the "got multiple copies to proc when crafting the Eternal Lockpick" club. I think I made that one during class and it ended up giving me three copies. I was super disappointed to learn that the Eternal Lockpick doesn't carry over to New Game+.

(says something the promos the Catherine remake he's helming somehow manages to be even more tasteless than the first game's promo). And then add in the clear problem with Atlus not letting them localize the game the same way they did with P4 (which is still considered the golden standard for translation), and that it's obvious the game went through several rewrites and had a rough dev cycles.
