GOOD TIMES ON METH posted:https://twitter.com/RLuettich/status/1049997542413492224 Welp at least I have memories of all these places. Used to go to Mexico Beach all the time and all along the coast here for decades. Hope the gulf specimen lab and Angelo's in Panacea don't get wrecked by yet another hurricane, but the latter is literally built over the bay so yeah,

When will people wisen up and realize Jeff just isn't covering but the cause these natural disasters? You don't live 35 years with hurricanes without causing them, Jeff. Please stop this.

A big thing is there isn't much dry air around the southern US right now for the storm to suck in, which is what causes most systems to weaken as they get near the shore instead of what this one is doing.

I did a thing posted:could this one really be worse than katrina? or is the news hype just hype? by which metric though i think meteoropeeps are talking about wind speed as far as worse than katrina goes that motherfucker hit nola so if youre inclined to try to calculus out relative human suffering katrinas hard to beat

I did a thing posted:could this one really be worse than katrina? or is the news hype just hype? I mean it's gonna do similar things to smaller cities. So it depends on how you define "worse", it'll prolly effect overall less people, but with similar possible levels of devastation.

yeah wikipedia says katrina kissed nola as a cat 3 michaels really enjoying the gulfs bathtub warm water right now and is in a hurry to visit the carolinas

This one probably won't have nearly the storm surge that Katrina had since that one had tons of time and wind to pile up water in the Gulf and hit at a particular bad spot for it. Katrina also had a much bigger wind field I think. But the eye wall in this one will be worse probably.

I did a thing posted:could this one really be worse than katrina? or is the news hype just hype? it is stronger than katrina in terms of wind speed but there's nowhere on the coast of the panhandle that's below sea level and only kept dry by a series of ancient floodwalls so nothing like that is happening
