One of my best friends had his immaculate 2001 Holden Statesman stolen in an armed home invasion today. loving methhead. When I got the news I instantly thought it would be found completely burnt out. Cops found it abandoned the next town over and although not burnt out - driven really hard. The poor bloke is out a car for a few weeks with two under 6 kids (single dad). I'll get some pictures when I can of it's state.

Welp, I've never done a head gasket before, learning opportunity? Yep, first job I learnt to do on piston motors (after owning mainly rotaries beforehand). Sad thing is you can't just pull it apart and go check the shed for slightly better seals or rotors if you don't like what you see and then slap it together with vaseline like you can if you're a rotor man. At best you'll need a head gasket and devcon if slapping it together on the cheap (Just kidding - but I did this on my EA falcon 3.9L i6 because it was just a slow boring car anyway that I wanted to get rid of). Otherwise you'll need to send off the head checked/machined for level, and valves/retainers checked etc. timing belt/chain, guides, tensioners, water pump etc as well. It's a real drag to do it properly... Fo3 fucked around with this message at 12:59 on Oct 11, 2018 |

My oldest kid got stung by a wasp on Monday, and by yesterday afternoon the area was swollen hot and all red. It looked like it grew overnight so I took him to the urgent care. Looks like he has a staph infection with cellulitis. Got him on oral antibiotics but if it doesn't respond in 24-48 hours it's off to the ER for IV treatment. He's out of his little league for at least two to three days and he's crushed. Poor guy.

Fo3 posted:Well that sucks, especially if it wasn't just stolen but an armed home invasion. The guy must be distraught with anger and fear. After the police interviews etc, I sat him down with some beers to chat it over this evening over Skype (home town and I'm kinda far away) To preface: said friend is built like a brick poo poo house and no one fucks with him locally. I'll call him 'Jeff' 'Jeffs' girls were at family and speech therapists to give him a break. So he cranked a movie to chill out. Went to garage and found the methhead in the open garage with one of his machetes and launched at him. Normally Jeff would just grab that arm and beat the poo poo out of the guy, but having an exwife as a methhead and seeing their intolerance for pain decided that just giving the keys was the beset way out of the situation. It worked. Turns out the guy had held up a few places with a gun (not common in Australia) and one wrong move and Jeff could be shot. Car was found next town over, methhead still on the loose. And on your anger and fear? Just pure anger, no fear.Jeff's already been warned to not pursue the 'suspect'. Chances are someone we know will find him first though. I don't know if it's weird or not, but all I cared about before realising it was an armed robbery was 'is it burnt out, are the girls car seats and toys still in the car?' Now it's 'are we on a a scale of 10 to murder' If the girls were home I would probably be testifying as a character witness on a case where the forensics team had to piece the suspect back together.
